Asics makes some really good shoes if it fits you... But I'm not so sure about those divided sole portion where the pinky toe is haha I guess it could give more grip...? But maybe too much grip in the right situation when you flick off the board and what not. Love how they moved the laces to the inside of the foot so they are away from where we rip them easy. Would make sense to make the big toe side part of the shoe meshy so it could breathe really well, too

That's going to be a hard no. I tie the laces on the inside near my sock, and fold the tongue over towards the inside over the knot of the laces... that way the tongue doesn't shift all over the place when I skate.

I remember only buying skate shoes that had inner lace loops. Then skate shoe companies changed style, and that got lost. Josh Kalis DC shoes have inner lace loops, Stevie Williams, Kenny Anderson v1, bam margera v2. I think even Joey b's adios were the same.

I think this started in snowboard boots and then transitioned to skate shoes. I remember lacing up my boots one time and thinking the technology they were using to prevent your edge from cutting your boot laces would be great for skate shoes... shortly after DC had shoes with internal lace loops.

If anyone remembers the old H-Street lace savers. They were true skater only shoes. They were like a half cab with laces but had a full flap that covered the whole laces from top to bottom. All suade with big flap that Velcro down. So good. Loved the old H-Street brand.

I used the ASICS japan L the past year for skating and stuff and it was by far the comfiest hi top shoe I've worn. They were light weight and wayyyy tougher than any vans i used. Pretty cheap compared to other shoes too, 50 bucks for a pair

Anyone who's really good at skating is going to have to get new shoes constantly anyways. Sometimes "functionality" includes having the shoe deteriorate. This is because too much grip or hardness isn't the best for a proper flick on the grip tape. Sometimes comfort takes precedence over durability. Being comfortable and having board feel is more important to most people than a long lasting shoe that might be harder on your feet. Lots of factors involved and each skater is different. At the end of the day, the reality of a skater is that you'll constantly need new equipment and that's why sponsorship is so sought after.
