We went to Haneda Airport last month for International Arrivals at Terminal 3. It was really packed with very long lines like Disneyland but moved steadily. Terminal 3 had the 2 Kiosk Readers, The first one we would scan our Passport and QR Code as well as fingers and photo. Going to the Customs Kiosk was rather confusing with nobody guiding you to use the Kiosk only to the exit area only to be turned away by the Customs Officer to use the Kiosk after which we were approved. The Customs Kiosk was around a column and not open to be seen right away so the airport should have people immediately have staff to guide people to the Kiosk to save time. Having the All In One Kiosk like at Terminal 2 would speed up the process and end the confusion.

Thank you for sharing your experience! And yes, hope the integrated kiosks in terminal 2 can be widely use in all terminals and airports soon. As currently, it has too many stations or machines to go through.

I just got back from Japan on the 18th. When I arrived in HND (terminal 3), I hit the mobile kiosk, the immigration officer, and the kiosk before entering the country. I believe there is a redundant step in the process to enter Japan.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, maybe the last kiosk can be combined to the mobile kiosk or just implement the Terminal 2 integrated kiosk instead.

Thank you for the information, I will definitely keep in my mind. I will arrive in Haneda Airport next year but still don’t know what terminal

Thank you. Great! I hope you'll have a great time in Japan next year! Maybe can check the flight number based on past flight on their website, just a rough estimate.

I did the second one when I went to Hanada Terminal 3. In March of this year

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering about the procedures, do you scan the passport yourself on the machine or by the staff? Step 1. Scan passport. 2. Scan index fingerprint. 3. Take facial photo? Also, after using this small machine, later on after collecting the luggages, do you still need to use the Electronic Declaration Terminal and able to clear using the Electronic Declaration Gate? Thanks in advance!

@simplifytravel The staff was there, and they told you what to do as far as fingers, facial scan passports and QR code I came into Tokyo about 6:30 pm so it was crowded but a smooth process none the less. It was like a blur. I only had carry-on luggage, so I went through the gates freely

So does the sticker you get count as a passport stamp? Cause apparently several countries having a bilateral agreement for driving licenses need a stamp of arrival in Japan in order to rent a car.

Sticker is the same as a stamp.

Yes, the sticker is count as the passport stamp. So it is very important to check your passport whether you have one before clearing the immigration.

Super dystopian. Can you opt out? I’m not going to do this, I rather a human verify my identity

If you prefer, you can still submit the paper forms. Disembarkation card and Customs Declaration forms.
