[Japan Heritage] Hakusan Heisenji Temple / Heisenji Hakusan Shrine

July 5, 2023. 　In Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture, Japan, there is the Japan Heritage Hakusan Heisenji Temple (Heisenji Hakusan Shrine). This ancient temple was founded in the first year of Yoro (717) in the Nara period. On this splendid place called Mahoroba, a huge religious city representing the Middle Ages was later built. Everything was lost due to the Ikko Ikki, but excavations are still ongoing. It is also known as the Moss Temple (moss shrine), and once you step inside, you will be overwhelmed by its majestic and mysterious space.
