Japan Heritage “REIKI-MANZAN TAKAOSAN” (Tokyo)

In 2020, the story of Hachioji City became the 88th in Japan and the only one in Tokyo to be designated as a Japan Heritage.
The title of the designated story is "REIKI-MANZAN TAKAOSAN - The Story of Mulberry city Woven by Locals' Prayers -". Hachioji was called "Soto(Mulberry City)" because of its flourishing silk cultivation and fabrics.
This certified story tells the history of the city of Hachioji from Sengoku period (15-17C), when the warlord Hojo Ujiteru ruled the area as a lord of Takiyama Castle and Hachioji Castle, to the present and future, through connection with Mt. Takao.

2020年、日本で88番目、そして東京都で唯一、八王子市のストーリーが日本遺産に認定されました。
〔認定された〕ストーリーのタイトルは、「霊気満山(れいきまんざん)　高尾山)　〜人々の祈りが紡ぐ桑都物語〜」です。
八王子は養蚕や織物が盛んだったことから「桑都」と呼ばれました。
ストーリーは八王子のまちの歴史を、武将・北条氏照が滝山城や八王子城の城主としてこの地を治めた戦国時代から現在、未来へと高尾山とのつながりによって語るものです。
高尾山そして八王子のまちで、様々な歴史や文化を体験・体感して、その魅力を楽しんでください。
