Hi Jacob, Thanks for the enquiry. To be eligible for exchange you must meet the eligibility criteria here: studentexchange.org.au/programs-overview/benefits/ Japan requires a minimum of one year’s prior study and applicants must provide a brief, hand-written letter in Japanese to the potential host family. Let me know if you have any questions or need more information. Kind regards

I went on your site and said that one of the programmes said if you were 14 - 18 you were aloud to go. I'm turning 14 in 2019 and will be a year 10. Would I still be able to go?

And would I be able to stay with a family friend that volunteers?

Hi Kayjane, Thanks for your message. The majority of countries on our destination list require students to be 15 years or over on arrival into the country for the start of the program. You can apply whilst 14 years. It will depend on where you would like to go and we would need to check with the overseas partner. Whether you would be able to choose the host family would depend on our overseas Partner. We cannot arrange a direct placement and the Partner needs to be involved. Please note however, that the host family cannot be a relative. Host families known or not, need to go through all the usual checks etc. Let me know if you have any questions. Kind regards

Hi Kayjane, If a family friend volunteers in Japan they will need to go through the usual checks that all potential Host families go through. Your family would need to speak to the overseas partner first to start the process from there. Let me know if you need any further information. Regards

+Amlakcess Hi, Thanks for your message. If your grades have been affected by your absence you will need to provide a letter from your doctor advising of your situation along with your relevant school reports. This will be looked at on a case by case scenario. Let me know if you need further information. Kind regards Katrina
