Call me pessimistic, but the real concern is not how human-like they look and behave as some have already expressed in videos like this, but rather the discreet spyware technology that could possibly be built into these things and transmitted back to say our governments and third-party corporations; basically enabling them to profile us right down to the minutest detail. Things like our physical features, our conversations that would give away our likes and dislikes, maybe our political and social values, our habits and where we go and what we do. Add to this the possibility that these robots could potentially be hacked and effectively hijacked, and next thing you know they could be giving all this information to cyber-criminals. Of course a lot of this already exists with current smart technology, but robotics will inevitably take this to a whole new level.

Probably not a concern or priority. As good as these few bots are, they are basically Gen 1. It isn't going to be about their looks or how complete they look, it is their performance and functionality that matters most. Give them a couple years to hit models these developers feel are good to go for mass production and then you will be getting robots that are fully decked out in their physical features.

whatchoo talkin'bout? how has one human being dehumanized another by the corruption of a very valid fear of cyborg tech exploiting the very tissues and tender loving "stuff" and developmental strength and structure of Human Life and Animal Life and Plant Life that also nourishes us? A fully functioning female IS ACTUALLY a human being, right? Why dismember and dislocate her? How have we been guilty of dehumanizing her, and for what? the hate complex we might have inner conflict in our heart of hearts against the commodification of sex and gender, organs, blood, and tissues of life? How to love humanity, but hate the "transgressions" against "the sanctity of life" protected and guarded with our truest most deeply felt values and emotions, in wholeness and completeness of the fully formed in understanding and wisdom of Love for Life? Remember, not everything is "truth" and falseness is exacerbated with gossip, paranoid fears, disenheartened lack of faith or misunderstanding, malicious rumours, and, the worst - hateful disrespect; Therefore, be careful what you "buy" or "eat" or "devote some of your time with" in the world of ideas and goods and services - both in the marketplaces of the world, and on internet, too - what, if anything in life, is truly FREE? When our time is perceived or conceptualized to be limited and therefore commodified, that is in regards for compensation for time spent away from our personal individual and collective and collaborative interests in Freedom, Life, Love's Nourishments of Body, Mind, Soul, Heart & Spirit and Liberty of Gracious Freedom that cares for and respects with regard and considaration for The Original Plan for Freedom's Harmony, Growth, Development, and, where there is oppression, Overcoming adversity of harm, injury, obstacles or lack of support for a life-affirming endeavour - like nourishments' delights (fine variety of healthy foods and refreshments, love, devoted love of parents and children, devoted love towards orphans, towards "transgressors against Life and Love", and towards the abandoned/injured without compromising the Promise of Life, Love, and Promise of Life & Love's Fulfillment in another human being or creature - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWGcfah6jr1kaMk Romance isn't the only LOVE there is, although it is truly and justly idealized; there is also Fraternal and Sororal Love, Parental Love - even Love of the Solo Individual who chooses Solitude's Personal Individual Freedom for a time to explore and learn, reflect on learning and develop wisdom and edify essential values to face the trials and tribulations of "new frontiers", be choosing how and when to devote time and effort and good healthy foods to the Orphan, the Widow, the Elder Aging - heaven forbid we should find ourselves alone with sorrow and grief for too long. Exploitation of the Stuff Of Life is a VALID concern of Humanity where money for our basic and higher needs is hard won in the marketplaces of the world that tell us "we can't unless you earn and pay money" and we are already oppressed by need of want for healthcare, food and shelter - especially for want of money when it is demanded but we are unable to earn it - concerningly enough to the extent that we would sell even of ourselves and of our "cellular possessions"; so, what would Life BE Like? if Everything IS FREE when we've been conditioned for "greed and selfishness" as the meaning of "winning survival" when we are pit against one another in dangerously destructive forms of competition for land and resources? How can we liberate ourselves from undue oppression of slavery? Perhaps, through collective and collaborative support and sharing of care for that what affirms Life and Love is TRULY KIND! Let us not forget the orphan, the injured, the abandoned and or chemically dependent traumatized, the oppressed, the physically and cognitively challenged, the special needs of the socially and financially marginalized, the special needs of the developmentally & differently formed, etc.

Then again, some robotic nurses may unquestioningly accept commands in their code from corporatized hospitals, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, or government. Because they don’t have the human capacity to disobey when something doesn’t seem right to them, you could end up in a worse off situation than simply having a mean nurse. Seems to me a better solution would be screening and auditing health professionals for behavior, making sure that shifts aren’t understaffed or too long, and that nurses are being paid well and hospital profits aren’t lining CEO or head doctor profits a little too thickly, so that mean nurses are less common. I still trust a human nurse better than a government official, insurance agent, or businessman to have direct control over my health care in an emergency. Unless AI are built with autonomy from government and corporate controlled protocols and only have to follow basic medical protocols and ethics laws, without too much impediment on their coding to self-correct and make autonomous decisions based on a constant stream or changing data, the AI could otherwise be too rigid and do more harm than good. Unfortunately under the current political and economic climate, AI is likely to be programmed to be too rigid and obedient to profit interests, rather than be like Baymax and do what’s truly best for you.
@azureflametarot
@azureflametarot Жыл бұрын
@@WiltsfkI wouldn’t be too sure about that. There's real people to care for and love the elderly. Robots do not feel emotion and will never make the emotional connection that a real human does. You should watch some videos on the dangers of AI. Eventually AI will decide we are a scourge on this planet and wipe us out.

These are the developments in robotics that we know about. The rapid growth of AI and human-like robots are disturbing and frightening to me. I would refuse any evaluation or interaction with a robot medical professional who comes into my hospital room! I’m too old and set in my ways about the importance of HUMAN interaction!
@nannerrammer
@nannerrammer 4 ай бұрын
I'd welcome a robot medical professional since 1) they're like a walking WebMD, so the risks of misdiagnosis or medical malpractice would fall substantially. 2) I'd probably be much more forthcoming and transparent about things I'd probably be hesitant from sharing for reasons like fear of judgement or general embarrassment. 3) steady surgical hands i obviously wouldn't invite said robot out for ice cream, but I don't go to the doctor to make friends and would value it as a programmed professional. That said, I have no idea about your history with doctors/medical but I wouldn't be opposed to robots taking over general tasks or high stress roles while acknowledging the importance of human interaction in areas like grief counseling or therapy. I'm pretty sure I heard some major corp (Google, I think) has already planned to have AI take over areas like advertising and customer service (which will result in 30K layoffs). So, I don't think the question is whether or not AI will replace human interaction, but where do we draw the line (and where human interaction is still imperative for a business's bottom line)

Well, like other people have said, we've been in the infant stage of robotics since like the late 20th century. 23 years later and we still don't know when the field will go into the "toddler" or "adolescent" stage any time soon. Even if let's say 50 years later, humanoid robots are very lifelike and have near-human movements, many people will (correctly) rather have the function, over form.
