[JAPAN] Rosanna & Hide Kato Tribute - J-pop Singers

This video is dedicated to Mrs. Hideo Kato (aka "Rosanna"). Rosanna Zambon was only 16 years old when she first met Hideo Kato (aka "Hide"), a 24-year-old tourist from Japan in her hometown of Schio, Regione del Veneto, Italy. At the time, Rosanna was trying to become a singer in Italy, and so was Hide in Japan. Both were straggling artists in their own countries. Hide took a break from his singing career and traveled around the world. He was not planning to go to Rosana's hometown but went... and the rest is history.
It was Rosanna who fell in love with Hide; Hide thought she was just a little kid who was curious about a stranger from Asia. After Hide returned home to Japan, Rosanna kept in touch by writing letters to him, trying to convince him that they should form a singing group... but she was too young, he thought.
Hide eventually agreed to insisting Rosanna and planned how they could form a singing group. He arranged with his parents so that Rosanna could stay with his family while in Japan. Of course, that was if Rosanna's parents approved. Hide provided his room to Rosanna at his home and he moved out to find an apartment nearby. His parents promised Rosanna's parents that they would take good care of their daughter. Brave Rosanna moved to Japan all by herself to form a singing group with Hide.
In this way, "Hide & Rosanna," a new J-pop group, was born. At the time, Rosanna was 18, and Hide was 26. In those days, there were no singing groups like them anywhere in Japan or the world, so they stood out immediately and became famous. Hide and Rosanna wrote all their songs and sang them wherever they could. At first, the Japanese audience was just curious about this odd couple but soon they began to enjoy their songs.
At home, Hide was a perfect gentleman to Rosanna; they remained solely as business partners until Rosanna turned 24. One day Hide (32) proposed. They went to Italy together to get Rosanna's parents' permission to get married. They got married in Japan blessed by both their parents, relatives, and friends; Rosanna was 25, and Hide was 33. Soon they expanded their family, blessed with three (3) beautiful children. Meanwhile, their J-pop career launched in 1968 continued to grow successfully; they were one of the top singing groups from 1968 to 1990, for 22 years.
In 1990, however, Hide (47) suddenly died of heart failure, leaving Rosanna (39) and three small children behind. This news shocked their fans in Japan/the world. Then, Rosanna suddenly disappeared from the public eye; she stayed away for over ten (10) years because she couldn't deal with his death. Hide was everything to her - the best friend, a protector, and a life partner. Both she and Hide's families tried to help Rosanna get back on her feet but it took a long time for her to come to terms with his death.
Rosanna eventually wrote a book in 2008, spilling out all her emotions. It was her way of saying, “Goodbye,” to Hide. After Hide's death, Rosanna was still young and if she wanted to, she could have gone back to Italy to start a new life, but she stayed in Japan, near Hide.
Rosanna eventually began a new career supported by her friends and fans. She started her own Italian home-cooking show on TV and her Italian language program also on TV.
In one of the TV talk shows, Rosanna (66) in her favorite Kimono said, "I was very blessed to have known Hide. Although we were married for only 15 years, every moment with him was special. Now I am fine but for a long time, I suffered terribly because I wasn't expecting to lose him so suddenly. I didn't know what to do with myself, my life, and the consistent pain in my heart. Fortunately, though, Hide gave me three wonderful children who were there for me always. Their being just there for me kept me going." At the end of the interview, she added, "I am Japanese, and I will join Hide eventually."

学校から帰って土曜の午後ヒデとロザンナさんの番組を毎週よく見ていました。確か70年代だったと思います。歌ありコントあり料理ありの番組でした。現在でもロザンナさんはお元気でいらしてあの頃を思い出しながらまさに時を越えて見ています。いつまでもお元気で。

Hello everyone, i'm the son of one of rosanna's cousin, named Giovana Zambon. She leaved Italy for Belgium in the 50's and she sometimes mentioned she has a cousin singee who marries a japanese man.
