I'm a Japanese major and I know a bit about Japan as a society. This might have been way harder in other places but not there. Every century or less there have always been a monk that studied something and came out with a new branch of Buddhism, claiming it was "the real way" and naming it so. So I think no one really saw it as something weird. Also the post-war era left Japan in a dire situation. On one hand you still have the atomic survivors, the letterate and the people that see their culture being erasad and submerged by the american domination and the general run for modernization started in the Meiji era. Om the other you have the new generations, that are enjoying the modern, the government that puts out pro-nuclear campaign because they want to buil nuclear implant. Amd than you add how Japan sociaty is extremely closed, meaning that each person is left by itself, you can not express your feeling and show yourself as weak. This was defenatly a breeding ground for a cult of this size and ideology. I wouls like to add, as a curiosity, that after thisbthe Japanese society grew incredibly sceptical of religions as a whole! They started to reevaluate them only after the Tohoku disaster in 2011, when many temples and shrines helped and donated a lot.

The Matsumoto incident really makes me upset, how these innocent people were killed or hurt because of this. I think that since the cult had members of the police force and government on their side, they were able to cover up the crime for a long time. Labeling Yoshiyuki Kono as the sole perpetrator wouldn’t make any sense at all. Like you said in the video, how could a single man commit such a large scale operation? The Tokyo subway attack is just so cold. Imagine all the children on their way to school. I don’t even want to think about how hard it was to breathe on those subways. I small error I noticed in the video is when you call Anthrax a "Gas" as if it's a chemical. Instead it's a desease which is quite well known too. It's a small detail but it could change the meaning slightly. Some context: It can be transmitted through the air and it can be found in animals like cattle (which could explain the foul smell?). "wild" Anthrax spores are apparently non contagious from person, but they usually infect people from contaminated soil, plants and water, making it's spread easier to control. The fact that nobody got hurt in this incident could be many: it just wasn't Anthrax and it's a silly mistake, they called it Anthrax not knowing what it really was (marking some incompetence in the field), they tried to spread it trough a gas medium but failed and didn't infect anyone, or they got some procedure wrong and killed all the Anthrax spores (and maybe created the smell while getting rid of it). Generally the last 3 give the idea of the cult as being more incompetent in the matter and to be just trying whatever. Hope this was helpful and didn't sound harsh / accusatory, I really love your vids and this is the first mistake I found so far. Good luck with everything!

Shoko also took MANY if not, ALL of his philosophies from Hinduism, which you can see in 3:31, with the Nataraja in the right corner. He took many aspects of this and transformed them to look bad and be a bad light in society. A bunch of other references can also be found in this video like at 23:42 He took the "Aum"/"Om" symbol and twisted it into something that was destructive and bad for society. Let it be known, that if you ever see something that looks like the Aum cult symbol, it is most likely a sign of a Hindu place/home. Hinduism is not bad, it is one of the purest and holiest religions in the world. Please don't confuse our signs for something like this.

my best friend turned into a cult believer and stopped talking to me/responding to my calls and messages after she moved to another city few months ago:) and now I see this video, something made me watch it. We were best friends for almost 4 years and our friendship was more than just comfortable, we were like sisters) Few days ago I talked to our mutual friends that were actually her friends, I just knew them and had their contacts, turned out my ex friend did stop responding to everyone’s messages) al of her friends were left with some dry messages like “I don’t think we have same interests now, I’m not interested in human problems, I’m more than that”. And yes, she’s ok, she posts on her social media, she just blocked all of us because we and our “goals” don’t fit into her new reality anymore:) how funny is that huh

What sort of cult?
@amitutyo Жыл бұрын
@@nausheenkhanrisaldar4920 I’m still learning English but I think you will understand my story:) I don’t know what cult exactly, but I know that before moving to another city she met a new friend group and I think that’s how everything has begun. She somehow met this weird guy that invited her to visit his city and go snowboarding together, it was in January, she did take the opportunity to make new friends and this guy, his company of friends ( I only saw them on the picture from that snowboarding day that she sent me, but they looked really weird, she’s a teenager and those girls and guys were like 20-25) and her spent a day or few together, hanging out, visiting vegan festivals, etc. I was happy for her to find a guy that likes her, because that guy was only 1 year older than her, I thought she probably really liked him too and I was feeling nothing but happiness for my best friend. but something in this story felt off to me from the first day. Those guys are super vegan, now I think they’re not just healthy vegan, they’re just following some rules of the cult they might be in. How do I know if that’s a cult? Well my lovely friend whom I knew the best started to talk differently after hanging out with those people, she started talking about awareness and mindset switch, but not in a normal way, a weird way, there was some aggression in those words, also felt like she was repeating something someone has said to her for many times, like a programmed robot. She came back from her little trip and everything was pretty much okay except she started being more mysterious, not sharing anything with me, just liking my messages, always being busy to even send me one, but we still kept in touch and now I realise it was because of me, she didn’t even try to talk to me like we used to. We were so close we could talk about anything for hours and she was such a genuine person, ever since we met i felt nothing but pure love whenever I was thinking about her. She really was caring, she did things nobody had ever done for me, but now I start thinking that she actually had some red flags from the beginning of our friendship, just because I loved her as a friend too much to pay attention to her weird side. So long story short, she started being weird, ignoring my messages but still sending some, once in a while, those were replies to my messages. It is March, she has moved to another city, texted me only once, I moved to a new apartment as well, it was such a tough time for me because of moving out, babysitting my newborn niece everyday to help my sister, preparing for exams like crazy bc I was so anxious about the next year, university and everything. Our last conversation was in April or march, I don’t remember now because I deleted all her messages and her number. She texted me about her new job in the new city and her already boyfriend:) She asked me for love advise and I was so stupid for not caring about the fact that a person moved to another place, seriously started ignoring me, treats me like shit and when I suddenly am needed I’m happy to help her. So dumb of me:) I did help her, I didn’t see the problem there, thought she was busy with her new job and etc. I was more busy but I was texting her every day. Even after my every exam in June, crying and sending voice messages about how stressful the exam went and how scared I am. I hadn’t realised that she didn’t care at all. I had unread messages from April in our chat and I still was sending new ones. I hadn’t realised my best friend just forgot about me and doesn’t give a goddamn shit about my life:) May, it’s her birthday, she doesn’t even pick up the phone, I was so stressed bc I thought someone did something bad to her or hurt her. August. The realisation hits me, I received a message from Pinterest that she’s now adding new pins to her board and maybe I’m interested in them. Hell yeah I was interested. Nothing had happened to her, she just turned to be an awful person. I’m texting her, she’s online in Pinterest, anywhere else she just doesn’t read my messages. She reads them in one second) Blocks me. I’m on the verge of tears. Crying for 2 hours in my granny’s bathroom, feeling awful. Remembers I had our mutual friend’s number. I thought because our mutual friend was living in the city my ex friend had moved to, she knew what was happening. Turned out she texted that girl that they have different interests and life is different now. Something like "I’m more than a human in a body, I’m more than you think I am". Our mutual friend told me that that girl started acting very weird and blocked everyone, even her kindergarten friend. Can you imagine how many people were absolutely confused and stressed bc of her? May say it’s a cult where people are believing they’re becoming aware and positive, vegan, "environment friendly", switching perspectives but in reality they are just getting insane. The craziest part is, she blocked me everywhere but Pinterest is a platform where people block each other but still can see each other’s account activities, pins and boards. Just can’t send messages, and thankfully I don’t need it anymore:) She adds pins on her boards about witch magic, Universe and Buddhism, but I think she’s just become a psycho that believes she’s a god. She still has a board with all of her friends names on Pinterest, it was something I loved, she would adding pins that associated with a person’s vibe and her friends loved it, she was very sweet and nice. But now those boards creep me out, because she even added my personal pictures on that board, the ones I sent her and she didn’t delete the board after ghosting me!! She was a selfish and I told her in those messages that she read, that I wish she will meet somebody that will treat her like she did treat her friends. Sorry for telling you every single detail of the story, I actually needed someone to talk about this with.

@@DARKESTICEBURG She’s in a different city, with her mom, has blocked everyone anywhere possible) So her mom definitely knows about her new friends, boyfriend. Heard from somebody that she is going to church now? I don’t think she has any connection to being religious, she has never been, the things she did a person who truly believes in god would never do. Maybe it’s all like a game to her, all these people she hurt an stuff, a new mindset, weird hobbies, believing she’s more than a person and normal people don’t deserve to even talk to her. i actually don’t care anymore:) I was trying to help her when it all just started, she didn’t care and hurt me so many times, that now we’re strangers, thank goodness. May seem selfish of me, but now i don’t really care about her life, i don’t even want to contact her if it’ll ever be possible bc now she’s interested in some sort of witch magic, i suppose it’s black magic or something, she has a lot of information about me and my family, photos, so i may be crazy for believing in all that magic and stuff, but at least i don’t trust her anymore, she’s a negative person and i don’t want her to even think of me. So now i just try not to remember about her and live my happy life without crazy psychos like that girl, I do all of this for my own safety.

summary: The Aum Shinrikyo cult emerged in late 1980s in Japan during a period of rapid societal change and exclusion, and the accessibility of chemical warfare. Its leader, Shoko Asahara, changed his name and combined his knowledge of meditation, yoga, Tibetan Buddhism, Christianity, and his prophecies to create his own religious organization named Aum Shinrikyo. The cult was officially recognized as a religious corporation in 1989, granting them immunity against investigations into their activities, leading to their rapid growth, recruitment, and net worth. Asahara ran for parliament in 1990 but only received 1,700 votes. The cult's beliefs included multiple levels of consciousness and apocalyptic prophecies. Members were subjected to survival training, mental trauma, drug abuse, and brutalization when they tried to leave the cult. Asahara claimed to have clairvoyant-like experiences, levitation, and flight, but these were false. The cult assassinated outsiders who spoke out against them. They even opened a branch in Moscow, forging connections with Russian officials, which caused a spike in membership.
