I hate to say it, but if it wasn't for the Custom Shop, there would be no need to have Fenders made in America. There isn't a single production line MIA other than the nitro finished Vintage Reissue models, that I would rather have over a MIJ production line model.

In addition, the MIJ line seems to be so much more creative. They come up with interesting color ways and unusual specs.

Something interesting about this one, looks like the tremolo that they're using on the MIJ Fenders moves the screws under the two E strings slightly outwards, so you don't have the issue where the strings can hit the domed screw tops when using the trem. The US Pro II trem moves them inwards but most of the US & Mexican trems have those screws right under the strings. That's what it looks like from the pics and video at least. Nice, non-traditional, but welcomed tweak IMHO.
@flapjack413
@flapjack413 Жыл бұрын
Sort of. They are actually the same width, but the string spacing on the Fender Japan trem is a little closer together. Both measure 55mm center to center on the widest screws. Just measured string spread too... Japan is 50mm, AVRI 55mm.

I really like jazzmasters. I’m in the middle of a jazzmaster build at the moment. It’s finish is a purple and gold metallic with an airbrushed graphic. Will have gold hardware and scratch plate and I’ve purchased some gold foil pickups for it which sound awesome. I’ve used them in previous builds. I’ll put locking tuners and a brass nut on it. Should be awesome when I’ve finished.

What type of wood materials for the body and the neck? Also where did you get it from? Just asking
@RuthlessMojo
@RuthlessMojo Жыл бұрын
@@jamesjeager129 Body is made of mahogany and the neck is maple. I really like a good mahogany body. I make them quite thick too (2 inches) as I like a guitar with a bit of weight (I’m a big and tall guy). The thick mahogany has great sustain, similar to a Les Paul. Built from scratch by me. I created templates for it by tracing out another Jazzmaster I owned. You can get templates and drawings for it online though. Hope this helps. My next project is a Blade themed strat in Midnight Black and Candy Apple Red. It will have 3 single humbucker hot blade pickups in it (see what I did there, Hotblade Pickups). I’m also thinking red binding and brass ammo shell fret markers and red neon dot side markers.
@leamanc

@@RuthlessMojo An extra-thick mahogany Jazzmaster? I love it! What pickups are you putting in it, and are you including the rhythm circuit?
@RuthlessMojo
@RuthlessMojo Жыл бұрын
@@leamanc Thank you for the comment. I have some gold foils from GFS and Mojo Pickups (I like Gold Foils) which I’ve used before and sound really nice. You can get humbucker golden foils in a P90 size pickup. When it comes to wiring and tone options I’m a mad scientist. I’m thinking of multiple push pull tone pots for coil split and an 8 position rotary switch or a custom pickup selector circuit with toggle switches. Will also have plenty of tone options by putting in a varitone or an active eq circuit to give plenty of different sounds. May place a piezo on it as well. I’m a madman.

To my knowledge, the made in Japan jazzmasters don’t actually “real” jazzmaster pickups. Instead under the pickup covers are something closer to an overwound Strat coil. This differs slightly from a traditional jazzmaster pickup which is wound wide and shallow instead of a strats tall and narrow coil

Hi Austin, I tried to buy the Stratocaster you showed last night, I found the beautiful Sherwood green on Reverb but they wanted $1,606.06 + $227.04 Shipping , it was new but it just seemed overpriced. I know I probably insulted him but I offered $1100 plus the shipping and he immediately said no and I don't blame him, it was a shot in the dark. Guess I'll just keep looking and maybe find a used one in excellent condition for a better price.

Right from the start I was blown away by the quality of this guitar. Sounds great, looks cool (yes the stripe not going all the way over the back is a bit of a down) - I am super happy with it. Maybe I‘ll order the Mustang later this year as this series is a 2023 limited run.

These cross line lighter areas on wood are from branches. Weak point per-se, but in this use shouldn't make problems. Probably. Not in next few years with proper care with any kind of oil. In regular use. I had acoustic wood-resin combination with this kind of ,,beautification'', ended broken twice. After third one it was not playable.

Fender wouldn't pay USA creators to review this japan-only model. Fender get antsy about them being exported - he's covering up the serial number so the Japan dealer doesn't get grief for exporting it.
