@InvidiaSin7 жыл бұрын
Oh I fully get it. All things considered, it would've been stupid for them to release overseas given the time frame. Even so, it would've been nice to see it, at least on PSN or something. Then again, that would cost resources of translation, porting to a server- based system, etc. Too many factors I suppose. Still though...
@SuperBearPoo7 жыл бұрын
+Tchitchouan Inouane but the PS1's library is full of niche Japanese games, and just because the PS2 was about to release doesn't mean it would've failed. The PS1 still had a huge install base, and PS2 is backwards compatible.
@HamtaroSonicHedgehog7 жыл бұрын
Not only that but even after the PS2 came out there was still plenty of PS1 games coming out for the thing anyway, some of which came out even AFTER the PS2 was already out.
@InvidiaSin7 жыл бұрын
This is true, but at the same time, this was the beginning of a new era for playstation- gaming in general really. I imagine this is where the era started where game companies were much less willing to take risks, which seems to have been false overall when you consider the amount of indie games that have that 2D classic style feel, which has really worsened over time. Gaming as a while took a sharp turn with experimental or classic games eventually and even now, there's almost nothing like that coming from first and third party devs lately. It's a real shame.

It's kinda a cruel irony that it was Virtua Fighter, a game made by Sega, that encouraged Sony to go full 3D for the PlayStation. Part of the Sega Saturn's troubles was that the console was designed to be a 2D powerhouse and it was only at the last minute, after seeing Sony push 3D so hard, that they hastily added in 3D processing capability. Which pretty much no developer knew how to program for.

@melvinblackburn1957 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I spent a ridiculous amount for Little Ralph on ebay, because it was sort of a holy grail holy item for my 2D platforming collection. I spent a little less crazy amount for Panzer Bandit on ebay as well. Gunner's Heaven I got for a not so cheap $45. I wanted physical copies, but people always say you can get a Japanese PSN account and play two out of the three. I'm not sure how to do that. I sure hope you get to play these games somehow Yellowdock Ooo.
@WEKNDZ7 жыл бұрын
I just made a similar comment but I've forgot Gunner's heaven (well the game also saw a pal release under the name Rapid Reload). Have you heard about "Hermie Hopperhead : Scratch Panic" ? An another gem to import on the ps1.
@melvinblackburn1957 жыл бұрын
WEKNDZ, yes Hermie Hopperhead, is also a relatively unknown, super playable import PSX 2D platformer. I would say however, that the whole eggs mechanic as well as the "unique" music, may take some getting used to for some. Other than that, the colorful visuals, decent controls and the absolutely fabulous background scrolling, (In my opinion) make this a worthy and fun title. I recommend it to anyone who loves the genre or collecting imports. My complete copy was around $25.

_Pulseman_ for the Sega Genesis; it's Japan-only, but was eventually released in the west for the Wii Virtual Console.
