In Canada, people are leaving the Catholic Faith and Church by the thousands. The Novus Ordo Churches are empty. I believe it is a blessing in disguise. Some of us are making our way back to the Holy Latin Mass with the help of SSPX. When I look at Father Onada, I recognize the Saintly Priest and it gives me hope. Saint François Xavier is rejoicing with Our Blessed Mother and the Angels in heaven. Amen... Amen...Amen. Thank you Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

However, SSPX is actually invalid, look up their conflict with the Catholic church and the pope. They weren't allowed to ordain priests, but they defied it and went on. Careful, these people seem to be like Scribes and Pharisees during Jesus's time. FFSP also perform the Latin mass but they haven't defied and fought against the pope and the magisterium.

Everyone here, please take the example of St. Joan of Arc (three pope conflict), St Catherine of Siena and even Jesus, he still worked under the scribes and Pharisees he didn't go running off to another sect. Remember that the pope and all the clergy are divine instruments ordained by God. Sadly the overall situation in Japan is very different. I am Italian and live in the Toyama prefecture. Unfortunately I have no other choice but to attend Mass in a Novus Ordo parish; there are altar girls, and women in robes handing out Communion (Deaconess?!). Everybody has been told to receive the Holy Eucharist in their hands and two years ago kneelers were removed from all pews, as the faithful have been instructed that it is better for them to never kneel during Mass. A few months ago in the middle of a Sunday Mass, not before nor after, but right in the middle of the service, a projector was brought in and those present were entertained with a long commented slideshow chronicling a recent trip made by some members of the parish. May the Archangel Saint Michael defend us in the battle against Satan.

veilofreality Wow! I’m sorry, but I would not attend!! If no choice, I would probably visit the church when no services are being held and take my missal and read the mass for the day! In fact, this is the advice a young SSPX priest gave me while my husband and I were vacationing and there was no TLM around. God bless.

He was baptised in Italy before we moved to Japan, I want him to attend Church and prepare for his First Communion, but as you will certainly understand, saying I'm concerned of doing it here is an understatement.

It would be very fitting if the traditional Latin Mass was celebrated in an architectural setting with vestments which drew their aesthetic inspiration from traditional Japanese architecture and dress rather than ‘Renaissance’ aesthetics. Catholicism would then not be seen as a European import, but has its place in Japanese culture itself.

I once asked historian Ryan Grant something similar about this. He told me that in China, missionaries used vestments "adapted to the Chinese colour values" and they also translated the Roman missal into High Chinese. I seriously do wonder if maybe the missionaries in Japan ever planned to create a liturgical rite specifically for East Asia or Japan. Perhaps using traditional Japanese architecture, art, and maybe vestments similar to Shinto (of course without accepting Shinto teaching) the Japanese might have been more receptive.

Finally, this video strenghten me to keep me to stay on the track i believe that i am not walking alone whatsoever. Dear Brothers and sisters Any rites and rituals almost with little differences why not people. Before Vatican II Council even world latin mass was offered. I too witnessed and in my childhood. When I was age of 6 or 7in our local language mass was introduced with change in rituals and practices. But I nothing found any wrong in that. But changes surely occurred. I too like very traditional mass but no option.

There is a difference between SSPX and the Roman Catholic Traditional Latin Mass. I grew up with the Latin Mass, and think it is a great fit for the Japanese culture from what I have seen. Yet, SSPX is not Roman Catholic, but separated, as it rejects what the Church set forth and decided. It disappoints me to see it claimed to be with the Holy See when it is not.Very beautiful sight, though, of the Latin Mass in Japan. Was just in Tokyo, and would have loved to have seen this.

SSPX is not separated but is an internal issue within the Roman Catholic Church. Else the Pope wouldn't have given SSPX priests universal jurisdiction to hear confessions and absolve sins anywhere in the world.
