How about visit to Pokemon Center near Tokyo station? Lol. There is Pokemon cafe but you need to reserve in front. 😁.. Let's see what is on their menu. I know that it isn't Japanese traditional but Pikachu san is known around the world. 😁.. Pika pika! ❤️😂

Between the restaurants, cafes and ekiben, you could eat and drink your way through Japan without ever leaving Tokyo Station. What an amazing place.

Yeah, Tokyo Station is recommended because there are restaurants from other places in Japan and plenty of shops!

Bento boxes are available inside the Shinkansen and on the platforms, but there is not much variety, so it is recommended to buy before entering the gate of the Shinkansen!

Does the store also have some vegetarian options for Ekiben apart from the egg & truffle sandwich Ekiben?
@samurai_junjiro Жыл бұрын
I don't think there are many vegetarian ekiben available. There are many stores in Tokyo Station that sell salads and prepared foods, so you may want to go to those stores :)

Hello. When you buy the Ekiben, are they refrigerated?or are they warm? How long will they stay fresh? MAny thanks
@samurai_junjiro3 ай бұрын
Ekiben are mostly sold at room temperature. The containers are not microwave-safe, so most of them can't be reheated. It's best to eat them on the day you buy them :)

Thank you for another great video! I’ll be visiting Tokyo in April and I love eating tofu. Can you make a video about tofu specialty restaurants? Many years ago I ate at a restaurant in Roppongi. I don’t remember the name, but everything they served were made out of tofu. It was so delicious!!

Are there English translations on the Ekiben packaging for those who can't read japanese?

There is no English packaging for the Ekiben, so it’s a good idea to use a Google Translate app :)

Yes, you can. Even if you don't take the train or Shinkansen (if you are outside the ticket gate), you can go inside the ticket gate when you purchase entrance fee at the ticketing booth. We've done it before :) 【Video】kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6qtXmqKpqZ0htE

This is a great video, thank you. My question - is there a way for tourists to find out what each ekiben contains? As the containers all seem to be written in Japanese only.
@samurai_junjiro Жыл бұрын
I'd suggest using the Google Translate app. I often see people using that app in restaurants that do not have English menus :)

Wow how does the ox tongue bento heat up like that ? 🫢🤔 I’m very interested to know how that works. I love the hello kitty bento, it’s so gorgeous.
@CrystalSnake8 Жыл бұрын
I would also like to know how it heats up!
@restaurantman Жыл бұрын
There is an Aluminum foil pouch contained inside the Ekiben, under the food compartment. Pulling the activation string removes a separation strip that enables subcompartments containing Magnesium and Calcium Oxide to mix with Water inside the pouch. This starts a chemical reaction and the resulting heat transference warms up the meal. After approximately five minutes of warming, the meal can be consumed.
@AussieAngeS Жыл бұрын
@@restaurantman oh wow that is fabulous. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation
@playedit0ut290 Жыл бұрын
@@AussieAngeS additional information on the chemical heaters. It's commonly used in military MREs but now there are also self heating meals that you can prepare yourself just with water.
