This show was actually so good the only thing is KITE is not dead. At the end of the show when Ayumu is racing, you can see someone wearing all black with a hat on in the stands which is KITE. My literally favorite person in the whole show was Koga and it was so hard to see him die.

Daniel or the dude with a teddy, deciding to be left behind is somewhat sad, I think he thinks that he's a burden so he doesn't want to go with the rest of the survivors

In the end, there was a clip of the guy with a young girl. It was giving indications that it was his daughter, and that the teddy was the last thing he had of her, so he wanted to die and be with her if the end of the world was happening.

I loved Daniel, he seemed so annoying at first but once you understand his backstory you realize he's just a good guy with a sad past trying to make others smile.

This anime was basically a disaster movie. They're sad and yet there's some odd humor too. If you've ever seen "The Poseidon Adventure," you know what I'm talking about. The novel that this anime is based on was written around the same time that the novel that "The Poseidon Adventure" is based on was. There was something about the 1970s and disaster films.
