Due to earthquake-resistant design that has been mandatory since the 1950s, indoor life in Japan during the winter is very cold. The walls are very lightweight. Vulnerable to noise and temperature. Japan is a warm country, but they probably live in the world's lowest indoor temperatures during winter. Around 13 degrees on average.

I really admire the Japanese. I visited Tokyo for 2 weeks earlier this year. The people were very polite and disciplined. On public transportation, they do not talk loudly and do not play their cell phones aloud. The city was extremely clean, well-designed, and organized.

Absoutely amazing how calm and disciplined all these people remain in a tremendously stressful situation. I am utterly astonished about the solidity of that train station. There was not one single piece of the construction work that came down. My deep respect goes to the authorities and engineers for their foresight, intelligence and investment in safe and quake-resistant public buildings. I sincerly hope that the tsunami predictions won't materialise. My thoughts and heartfelt compassion go to all Japanese people who are suffering any losses, be it property or loved ones.

Japan's expertise in earthquake preparation and response is truly impressive. Their advanced technology for infrastructure reinforcement and early warning systems play a crucial role in protecting lives and minimizing damage. Additionally, the country's extensive public education programs and regular disaster drills contribute to the remarkable resilience and calmness often displayed by citizens during earthquakes.
