For the claw machines, you hit the button once for the claw to go down, then a second time for the claw to close! I ended up winning probably 30~ items or so when I went to Japan!

My Hanai uncle used to have a few claw machines, and I remember when I was a teen I got to feel the 'grip' of those claws... They're a scam, the fingers are slippery, and some of them loosen the grip as they rise to make you want to play again because you almost won.
