My father was in the Army, but some how he got our family housing in Negishi Heights from 1966-1969, we were stationed there for 3 1/2 years on Skyline Dr. bittersweet to see the housing unit I grew up in, what fond memories I will never forget, always wished I could have gone back to visit. back then our parents didn't tell us kids we would be moving back state side, so we wouldn't get upset about leaving your friends, you would get up and go to school and come home to your house all packed up and then you were gone, never to see your playmates again, now I know why my classmates would disappear and you would never see them again, then came the day I disappeared. looking back at old school photos makes me wonder where they all ended up at and what they are up to, makes me sad and wonder at 61 years old

My wife and I visited today... We're going to seek a pass to drive around the housing area as it is still being developed into new homes after the return of the land to the Japanese govt. Lots of memories. It was a bit melancholy too with with a tinge of sadness... the area has changed so much over the years. Some areas around Negishi are almost unrecognizable. Really just an amazing day - so much history wrapped up in all these small bits of America sprinkled throughout Japan.

Great memories of playing at the grandstands in the 1960's. A little later used the photo lab, rifle range and slot car tracks. Also got a free visit to the Shore Patrol office as a teen. Remember a little downhill from the grandstand was a old abandoned ticket office with a huge steel safe.

Good memory... We lived at Sagamihara in the '60s but used to grab a bite at the 19th Hole (which became the All Hands Club) when Shinrin Park was the golf course on our way to shop at the Honmoku NEX.

Yes, I remember the slot car track at the grandstands and putting models together. Sure wish I could back in time.

Yes I remember racing the slot cars with my dad, does anyone remember in the fall they would throw trout in the pool and you could go fishing for a while before they would drain the pool for the winter

... and can never forget Cardiac Hill ... Doing PT (Physical Training) down at Negishi with my squad was brutal -- but forever memories now!

Really enjoyed living at Negishi Heights 1979 and eating Chateau Briand on the edge of the cliff. Did not look forward to walking up that hill each day, though.

Another Huge Thanks! This was great -- I know every aspect of this housing area. I am very keen on what the Yokohama government is going to do in redevelopment of the land. Really missing Japan today... as I almost always do.
