I am sure you will be able to correct the flaw and create a perfect base, but can you suggest how to create taper from the start, avoiding the risk of having to air-layer later? Not everyone is confident enough to do it

To give taper to the trunk, avoid excessively closed bends in trunk sections and normally perform pruning that replaces the apex of each branch or trunk, every 2 years
