Hello Shaqdi. Greetings from Japan✋ I am happy that Japanese pop music is loved all over the world. You chose a very nice song. Toshiki Kadomatsu, who worked on Anri's albums "Heaven Beach", "Bi・Ki・Ni", "Timely!!", and "COOOL" is also good. Especially from his second album to 1986's "Touch and Go". Please keep digging for good songs👍 Thank you Shaqdi and MY ANALOG JOURNAL. ….sorry for my bad english😁

I think your City Pop and J.Jazz sets is whats really made your channel, I think at the time they were quite ground breaking and I don’t detract from your other sets. Both genres especially the former don’t get the appreciation they deserve in the U.K, theres lots of special tunes to be unearthed in Japan, 70s/80s were special music times there.

It's what brought me here and has me coming back and re-watching them over and over again.

My first introduction to it was New Year's Eve 2020. Zag did a YT livestream of Japanese City Pop for a few hours. I rang in 2021 going down the JCP rabbit hole. Now JCP is ringing in another perfect Sunday morning.

I have to agree with this assessment Simon. It is how I found this channel and I have purchase quite a few vinyl albums of citypop and jazz after hearing some of their songs on this channel. Kumiko Hara "No Smoking" for example being the first one I can think of off the top of my head. My Analog Journal is Consistently excellent for finding new music to soothe the soul and lift the mood. I have found soviet jazz, brazillian pop from the 80s and even some Turkish music from the 70s that I loved hearing on her.

Despite not understanding Japanese other than some few words, I like the songs from there as they transmit some sort of peace feelings due to the way they are sang. Also this reminds me that the Japanese jazz set was my first incursion in this channel.

I got into Citypop because of your legendary sets when I stumbled on this channel years ago. This was a welcome return to form as I recognized a lot fo the tracks on here. Thank you MAJ for all you and the guest DJs have done. I love all the new genres and music you exposed me to, but my heart and soul will always appreciate Citypop since this was the first of your sets that got me to follow you. Nostalgia was strong on this set, much love and respect to all of you!

This is a great and tasteful set, congrats. It contains one of my all-time favorites, Mai Yamane-Ta So Ga Re, a masterpiece. While the genre of "city pop" spans a wide spectrum and is a bit of a mixed bag, this set focuses on the good stuff which for me are jazz and funk elements combined with top notch musicianship, making pop for me bearable (I am into jazz primarily). Japan is an endless source of music, the postman brings me quite frequently those square-shaped boxes from Tokyo 🙂

Good set, Shaqdi! Your first video got me to subscribe to this channel so it's nice to see another one. If anyone likes Mariya Takeuchi's "Oh No, Oh Yes," and maybe wants two versions, I'd also like to recommend you listen to the original version that she wrote for Akina Nakamori. It's got a slower R&B vibe, but my God does it hit the soul. Both are good.
