If you're watching the video and didn't catch the premiere of it, turn on the Live Chat Replay to see what everyone talked about! Make sure to also tell me what you liked about the department store, and ask any questions in the comments here. Cheers!

Yeahhhhhhh Back in the 90's they were kind of "not cool" to wear. But they definitely rebranded their image to be the walking shoe for comfort. I'm glad I could find my size. It took ages to find a pair big enough for my feet. lol

You're out sick so I thought I'd take advantage of the time and watch some previously unwatched (by me) walks. So thanks for the walk and get well soon. PS Who doesn't love the smell of a bookstore? I think the older the better actually.😊 Perhaps watching past videos helps with the algorithms; I'm not sure but hey, it couldn't hurt.😄

@@CoryMay81 I’m definitely old school. Same with books 📚 I prefer the feel of turning pages in my hands not kindle or audio books. I love browsing old book stores. Shame security pinged you at the end of this vid, department stores are super hard to get away with hey. Also…not far to go now, only 5k and you hit that milestone (can’t believe you haven’t already tbh). Can’t wait for the next one 🤙🏼

That's great! I think some of the designs are cool now, compared to back in the 1990's. hehehe Back then, it wasn't cool to wear Sketchers in high school so most of my classmates wore the main fashional brands like Nike, Adidas, Fila, etc. Thanks for watching!

I also am team Skechers. My bf thinks they’re corny but I love them because they’re comfy and make my big feet look smaller. I wear them everyday, for driving, traveling. I have the slip on ones so it’s easy to take on and off at the airport.

There were lots of shops I didn't go in when I was in Japan...atre being one of them...why?..well..I don't speak or read Japanese...And with my anxiety and lack of confience..If I didn't know what the shop was about..then I didn't go in.....Which was pretty much most shops...This is a problem when you have traveled 6000 miles to get there..then not go into shops!......I just glanced in the window...or just walked about.....I know..its an adventure...just do it!....But I couldn't..I was alone and have never traveled solo before and suffer from a few issues...So It was amazing I was even there!..let alone go in a shop...I hope I can return one day and do better..I did so love being in Japan..even if I didn't do it the justice It deserved.

I think you did a great job by getting out of your house, to the airport, flew on a plane for 13+ hours, and came to Japan! That in itself is an amazing accomplishment. Don't worry so much about not going into stores and stuff. Of course, hopefully if you come back, you can do that. Exploring randomly into shops and stuff is a lot of fun and there's zero consequences to it. But yeah, anxiety sucks and I'm sorry that you have to deal with that. You'll be back, so don't be so hard on yourself. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!

Could you ever do a store tour of Kaldi? 😃
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 Жыл бұрын
Sure, I can try. But it's a tight fit in there. Every time I go in there, I'm squeezing past customers and staff in the tiny aisles and knocking products over with my arm or backpack. hehehe I've ventured into one briefly in a different video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKqzpqtnmpuhfK8 This link includes the timestamp from when I enter the Kaldi and walk around a bit. It's brief, but at least you get a sense of what it's like to walk inside the tight space. Anyways, thanks for watching!

Out of curiosity, what makes this a “department store” and not a “mall”? I would have called it a mall if I saw something similar in the US. Thanks for the tour, Cory!
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 Жыл бұрын
To me, a department store is a single building, usually more vertical than horizontal, owned by a single company that has different "departments" on each floor (women's dept, men's dept, children's dept, etc). They are not as big as a shopping mall, which covers a much larger area of land and usually isn't as tall as department stores are. Shopping malls usually have food courts, movie theaters, game centers, as well as many stores, kiosks, and whatnot. In Japan, this type of department store is actually called depāto (デパート), which is an derived from the word department. This is all just my assumption and my definition of it. There are probably some actual differences between the two in finer detail that can be found via Google. Thanks for watching!
