it's called a fruit trifle "try fall", as in rhyming with eiffel in eiffel tower. it's very common in uk. layers of fruit, cream, custard, and crumbly biscuit-cake layer. but this one seems to be mostly fruit and cream. i didn't realise it was a uk native dish. was surprised by how surprised you were with it.

I'm also an aussie, and yes, absolutely! People here are gross. My wife used to work in a supermarket and people would often like, remove milk from the fridge then decide not to buy it and just dump it on a shelf somewhere so it'd spoil. My old local Woolies has a sushi bar though, similar to in this video, but not nearly as good. I also had a bit of a giggle as he was saying all these products i can't even pronounce then he got to the trifle and called it "trif-el" hahaha

I'm not sure if they do it anymore, but when I lived in Japan in 2007, if I went to the supermarket and bought any kind of cold or frozen food, they would put a bit of dry ice in a bag and put that in my groceries to keep the cold items cold until I got home. As a 19 year old Australian kid, that level of customer service blew my mind!

It’d be cancelled after two seasons “just because”. As much as I like what they do fund, they have a nagging tendency towards shooting themselves in the foot with promoting and marketing. Or budgets. Then again? If it kept the same budget and setup, it’d likely be cheap enough to keep it as a mainstay. Still a negative since it would probably leave KZbin.

@rickityrox814 Actually, you might not have to worry too much. It's much easier and faster to get your visa if you already have an employment offer. What I did was I applied for a school in Tokyo that was seeking international employees, which I applied for here in America. Once I got the job, they actually handled the visa paperwork for me, which is pretty common practice when Japanese companies hire Americans. Because the paperwork is being handled by a reliable company, the visa comes through way faster than it would otherwise. Hopefully that helps!

@@spiffyflinger9174 Thanks for the reply! I know that the cost of living can be high in Japan. Do you think that a teacher’s salary would be sufficient enough to still have an enjoyable experience in Japan?

@@rickityrox814Japan is NOT expensive. At all. I live in Tokyo, been living here for almost 9 years..and it's still much cheaper than my own hometown ( Zurich, Switzerland).

This is going to be me for next 4 weeks! I'm going to Tokyo next week and I will be going to Japanese supermarket every single day!!! Their bento and food section is just too great, I'm going for the discount at end of the day lol. Compared to Japanese supermarket, supermarkets in USA is lacking imo but I'm very biased~ ^^; Thanks for the perfect fitting and another great video~ Merry Xmas!!! 🥳

My wife and I are trying Japanese food products to help bring smaller servings and a better balance between vegetables and meat or seafood. I have been curious about their supermarkets.

To be honest, the food there seems rather inexpensive compared to the US. The fresh fish seemed a tad high, but the premade bento-box's, and other packaged food seemed to be half the cost of similar US premade meals at the supermarket. And, the meats seem really cheap compared to the US, again, half what we pay! If I was eating common Japanese food as you stated, I'd have a meat slicer for my kitchen prep, no need to buy meat pre-sliced. I may get one because I just realized I can slice potatoes, fruits, and other veggies with it as well. No need for a mandolin which can be dangerous as I nearly sliced my thumb off several months ago using one! 👍😎✌🗽🎄🎅🦃🤶🎁

In the US, our supermarkets is about the same. The only differences is the products on the shelves. Like your store is loaded with Japanese product. In the US, it will be US product. Again, sometime foreign products if it is popular enough.

I had the opportunity to visit Tokyo and Kyoto in September, the quality and freshness of their food is amazing. Just say hello in Japanese with a smile and just politely point at what you want, no problem. The people there are very nice. ❤
