Lovebites has Fami on Bass, she's another amazing Bassist!

There are so many female bass players in Japan with such a high level that i could make a top 20, and when it comes to this level nobody is better, they are all extraordinary , it's simply a matter of personal taste. My favorite is Misa, but they're all fabulous.
@dragonmac12342 жыл бұрын
As a Maidiac Misa is my personal favourite, her ability to pick, slap and pop at lightning speed is very impressive. They are all awesome 🤘
@xovaqiin48442 жыл бұрын
Nailed the top two I think. My top 5 would go something like this at the moment: 1. F-Chopper Koga, Gacharic Spin - Flawless technique and skill 2. Misa, Band-Maid - Best sound and smooth transition from slap to pick 3. Shinobu Kawai, Super Junky Monkey - Most innovative and original of this list 4. Rio, Mary's Blood - Needs to be in Lovebites to bring order to the universe. 5. Naoto, Exist Trace - Not as flashy, but sick bass lines always perfect for whatever song she is playing. Haraguchi-san and Misaki are great picks too and are probably 6 and 7 on my list.

Big fan of Naoto, who is underrated because too few know about existTrace. Really hard to make a top 5 when there are so many good ones.

Although not on this list, Kyoshi is one of the best female bass virtuosos in Japan. She gives Les Claypool a run for his money. But the reason I like MISA the most is that she is an amazing composer for bass. Her superpower is the ability to create and execute gorgeous bass polyphony that perfectly compliments all the other lines in Band-Maid's catchy & complex music.
@PaleHorseShabuShabu2 жыл бұрын
MISA is my favorite among Japanese females because while what she plays is great, when she plays it is even better. She puts so many runs in where I would never think to put runs. Kiyoshi not being in this list . . . yeah, well, the intro does say it's this dude's favorite, not a list of talent (though lists of talent are typically made by non-musicians and just end up being popularity contests anyway). Kiyoshi is incredible.
@chelollo2 жыл бұрын
Kiyoshi is right up there with me, too. Misa Misa Misa is also in front. But what's with all the leaderboards. The pool of good Japanese female musicians seems inexhaustible. For every mood Japan has the right answer. And it seems that there are more of these outstanding musicians every day. What distinguishes them all is their passion and absolute devotion to music. I celebrate that.

Misa could be at the top of any list she doesn’t just stand out she stands out and it sounds like it should be there, it has a purpose, she’s truly one of a kind and only getting better, like I said top of any kind of bass player list she’s a true musician. I honestly don’t think her genius and raw talent get nearly enough credit.

Chris Hunt Because nothing you have said is there , while you fall in love to her makes her not the best Bassist. She fits the bill in Band Maid nothing more.

Great list, I used to be the biggest fan of Misa and loved her fretboard slides and simple slaps - then I saw Koga, wow this woman can play any style and can out-slap almost anyone. her on stage energy and very driving bass parts make her a signature sound for Gacharic Spin. Koga's bass lines with Doll$boxx are just ripping - I get inspired every time I see a new video from both of these talented bassists.
@davidarcus51312 жыл бұрын
I agree completely, although I wouldn't underestimate Miho's technical capabilities. She has had to build up endurance in her right hand to play Lovebites' songs, which bassists will understand is difficult and something to admire in her playing. Could be that Lovebites music didn't showcase the full range of her technical playing.
@cepho83492 жыл бұрын
Great comment. People definitely tend to underrate Miho. I'm certain that she is capable of more she was able show with Lovebites. Not that that wasn't impressive in the first place.

I agree - her playing doesn't really get highlighted behind the twin guitar attack. her right hand technique is fast and flawless, and she can pull off tapping and hammer-on runs as well

Regarding Miho's technical abilities on bass: I'm sure you are aware, Miho and Haruna share a common work history previous to LOVEBITES; one of those bands being Destrose, a group which has produced some of the greatest female icons in Japanese rock and metal history. Many are of the opinion that she is not as technically savvy as some of her contemporaries, but I beg to disagree. Miho and Haruna, the bands co-founders, decided early on that the rhythm section should be dedicated to supporting the quitars and the vocalist. Bass and drum solos are a rare occurrence in LOVEBITES performances. To prove my point may I suggest you watch her with the group - CHAOS CONTROL - The Legacy Within (OFFICIAL VIDEO) here on KZbin. 🙏 🕊&❤ P.S. Love your channel so I just became a new subscriber 🕊on 🌏

Intersting list, i will apply the Band maid method of ranking between Miho V Misa, since music writing/composition, is most important Misa is responsible, for her baselines, but Miho has written or composed 30% to 35% of Lovebites music, thus moving her clearly ahead of Misa on this list, hell she even writs lyrics....and on top of that half the time Misa is just Noodling for showing off anyway, Miho plays what is needed..anybody can shred on the base...
@2abug2 жыл бұрын
You’re always provocative in your comments. Don’t be surprised when people become harsh on the comment section with you
@jerryajc2 жыл бұрын
@@2abug is there a problem, just change the names, insert Kanami, for Miho, and and anyone for Misa, read all the comments on any of the, my favorite or top female Japanese guitarists lists, and you will read 100's, of these same comments, all i am doing is pointing it out. When it's done against one of your girls it's an issue, get used to it, this will escalate.
@acornsoda222 жыл бұрын
Compositional skills are a perfectly valid reason to prefer one musician over another. As to Miho's compositions, in the credits beside her name you will also find Mao's. For every. Single. Song. 100's of these same comments? Be real. You think you're making a point, but just coming off as petulant.
@DavidKAnderson2 жыл бұрын
Compositional skills are critical (and my weakest area as a musician, as it happens), but I'd say they are more of a determining factor of someone's excellence as a _musician_ than their capacity on their favored instrument. I very much agree that someone's ability to "noodle" is a different thing from their ability to do their job in a particular song. This is nowhere more in evidence than for the bass (or maybe drums). The rhythm section has a job to do, and that job varies a LOT depending on the material. Koga has a lot more room to "noodle" in Gacharic Spin or Doll$Boxx songs than Miho did in Lovebites' material. Highly embellished playing in the latter would result in a mess. Haraguchi-san knows how to make this distinction for Nemophila, too. She has mad chops, but they only come out when there's space in the song to allow them.

Yeah, that was a bit weird, especially considering that Miho wrote many of _Lovebites'_ songs. Maybe he meant that Miho shows it less often on stage ... and that is very debatable, too.
