I missed the hanabi festival on the Tama river a couple weeks back. The storm came up and nature provided it's own fireworks. Still haven't been able to get to a fireworks festival yet. Hopefully soon.

I've considered going to Tokyo when a festival is on, the festivals are what makes me smile most about japan, apart from all the beautiful woman, delecious to die for food, amazing scenery, cities focused on animes, and the hospitality/friendliness off people themselves off course! Makes me wait anxiously so much for trip to japan, and wanting me to ask, what festivals are happening in Osaka/Tokyo at the same time that the cherry blossoms are blooming, I want to see both! However I havn't figured out which city to see first yet...

5:18 I'D ACTUALLY RUN. I'm scared enough of the insects here in the UK, so seeing that great huge thing would definitely have me on the other end of the premises cowering, even if I end up getting at least 50 odd looks.

What is the difference between using たいかい or まつり? Could you say 花火まつり?
@JapanesePod101
@JapanesePod101 7 жыл бұрын
Hi metallicJrocker, Thank you for your comment. まつり(matsuri) means "festival", while たいかい(taikai) means "convention" "cup" "tournament" "meet" and "festival". "花火まつり" is not incorrect. Each fireworks festival has an official name and it might be like "Tokyo Hanabi taikai" "Tokyo Hanabi matsuri" or something like that. You aren't wrong, "ka" is the 'on' reading of the fire kanji. Each kanji has multiple readings which make kanji tricky to learn.
