I've considered going to Tokyo when a festival is on, the festivals are what makes me smile most about japan, apart from all the beautiful woman, delecious to die for food, amazing scenery, cities focused on animes, and the hospitality/friendliness off people themselves off course! Makes me wait anxiously so much for trip to japan, and wanting me to ask, what festivals are happening in Osaka/Tokyo at the same time that the cherry blossoms are blooming, I want to see both! However I havn't figured out which city to see first yet...

One of my best experiences in Japan was a fireworks show near Osaka; everytime the fireworks got big the crowd started to get so enthusiastic! Another reason to go back :P

Hi Zaphkiel Kurumi, Thank you for posting. I think that's "yokatta" which means "I am relieved", "That is/was good", "Thank heavens" or sometimes "I'm glad". Hope this helps you. Keep studying with JapanesePod101.com Regards, Miki(美希) Team JapanesePod101.com

What is the difference between using たいかい or まつり? Could you say 花火まつり?
@JapanesePod1017 жыл бұрын
Hi metallicJrocker, Thank you for your comment. まつり(matsuri) means "festival", while たいかい(taikai) means "convention" "cup" "tournament" "meet" and "festival". "花火まつり" is not incorrect. Each fireworks festival has an official name and it might be like "Tokyo Hanabi taikai" "Tokyo Hanabi matsuri" or something like that. I thought "ka" was fire?
@Miguelsbigbro7 жыл бұрын
You aren't wrong, "ka" is the 'on' reading of the fire kanji. Each kanji has multiple readings which make kanji tricky to learn.
@sophieeruokwu98167 жыл бұрын
Clayton Blanchard thanks, but could you explain the " on" reading and the other one
@juliat.49467 жыл бұрын
The On-yomi is the chinese reading of the Kanji and Kun-yomi is the japanese reading, and depending on the context, either on-, or kun-reading is used..
