I'm a Japanese-Brazilian woman, 1,63 tall. In Brazil, I'm considered average height to maybe short, girls say I have a cute style, and boys have always bullied me and called me ugly because I'm not curvy (also used to call me many racist names). In Japan, people tell me I'm tall and have a cool (kakkoii) style, and also I'm considered more beautiful than I am in Brazil (I was very surprised to have boys flirting with me lol). I might be one of the few western women to say this but I really love how a lot of Japanese men don't like PDA. I struggled with dating exactly due to people wanting to get touchy fast and everywhere and I felt always uncomfortable, not to mention that touches scare me due to my trauma and abuse so having to touch someone a lot in order to keep them happy is giving me huge anxiety. So to me the fact that my Japanese crush also doesn't like PDA is something I very much love about him. I don't have to feel anxious or stressed that I have to touch him or show affection and we still can have an amazing time together.

I get it. I don't have trauma and I'm not a fan of PDA either past holding hands or hugging. Putting touching above actually liking the person as a person, is a huge problem in society I think. Probably also contributes to the excuse that guys can't control themselves as though they don't have brains. That's really a disservice to the intelligence of men as much as it is to women.
@ganndalf202
@ganndalf202 2 жыл бұрын
@@sjbsavageink Yes, a lot of people need touching and PDA to maintain relationships and although I understand that, it's have been the cause of my break ups because no matter how much I was forcing myself into it, I hated it. In my culture touching is perfectly normal so I always feel too abnormal. So to me, meeting Japanese men who don't like PDA is a blessing because I for the first time don't have to force myself to give more affection than I can. And you are right, about putting touches above all being an issue. It's so normalized that for majority of my life I had to force myself to do that just to keep others happy and that messed me up a lot.

The ideal, however, is not always the reality. Not in a bad way, I mean, like someone mentioned in the vid, when you like someone you might not understand why, nor may they fit your ideal. Of course, your ideal has some bearing I think, especially personality/belief wise, but it's interesting how it plays out in real life. I barely even have an ideal anymore haha, except for maybe belief wise (I'd like to align morality wise).

I am Brazilian, we are touchy feely even with friends. We hug friends, we Kiss each other's cheeks when we meet and when we say Goodbye. Even if couples don't suck the life out of each other in kisses, we like to hug, walk hand in hand, do small gestures of tenderness in public. And that is maybe an inherited trait, cause we treat our children very affectionately, with lots of hair stroking, sniffing one's head is a Classic act of intimacy, stroking the arm lightly to give assurance and say, ok, we're together. I’m 172 cm and my husband is 176 cm. His feet are slightly bigger than mine, I wear a ring size smaller than him but for the most part we can share many things lol. Of course there are characteristics that are different due to our genders. For example, his fingernails are twice as wide as my own, his shoulders are broader and he’s thin and I’m curvy. I used to think because I was a very tall woman, I’d be seen as manly (despite looking and being really feminine). However I always tell girls who ask me and are tall as well to not pay too much attention to standards in the world. Like one of the gentlemen in the video said “when you like someone, you can’t really explain why”. It just happens that way. Tall, short, black or white etc…💕

PDA even with foreigners is a personality thing I feel. I’m from the US and I don’t like PDA and it’s probably due to my not growing up around it. I’ve never even seen my parents kiss in my nearly 41 years of existence. The only PDA I’d feel okay with is a hug when greeting or parting ways. When living in Japan my 7 1/2 years I don’t think I ever saw any PDA, accept for maybe handholding. Very modest. As for height, I always wished I was a tad bit shorter, especially while living there. Shorter girls are cuter and seem most guys prefer them. I think my height is around 178cm or 180. I’m even tall by US standards.

I see that the Japanese girl image is way different from western girls, most folks in East Asian countries like mature/older women and someone they'd learn from, as for here it's mostly about mutual interests and computability no matter what age, height... Etc But usually the curvy girl is more desirable due to the media influence, but I like how the last guy mentioned the public and cultural respect rather at the end, I think that communication, social manners and personal ethics are the backbone of building all sort of relationships.. I'm personally a 5'11* (180 cm) girl, and it's been hard for me dating a shorter guy (because of his personality and inferiority complex of how'd society perceive him), still I prefer meaningful relationships, the soulmate type that helps each part to flourish on their own, while having that positive togetherness as a couple or in a group of friends. I guess I learned from my experience that personality differences, heights, looks, genders.. they all don't matter as long as the mutual feelings are evolving into a good and safe state.

The guy who said he would date black or white women, was quite interesting. The guy who said someone who was between 5”3-5”6, that’s not tall😂😂😂!! 5”6 is average for a woman. My sister is 5”7, they’d probably call her a giant!😂😂

I can relate to the numbness of seeing the same kind of girls around. When I was young (I’m Asian by the way) I was raised in Miami where there are tons of Hispanics. When they said they want to connect with someone at work, my thoughts were that it's not something I'd do. Seems too risky. Overall, I'm a pretty quiet and reserved person. I'm only more loud and open to people I know and like talking too. I'm not super thin, but I'm not considered fat when I do fitness tests. Apparently, it's hard for people to want to ask me out because they say I look to young for them. 😕
