When I was taught archery my instructor made a point- if you can't draw, hold and fire accurately then won't be able to arch quickly. It's training to teach yourself patience, and to get yourself conditioned for actually using a bow in a real scenario. You must always wait to loose an arrow, otherwise your more likely to miss.

There is an organization called "Kyudo Police" in Japan, which warns against even the slightest mistakes. I am one of them, and in this video, ①the process called"Daisan" is ignored. ②The length of the arrow is shorter than the physique of the shooter. I will point out. Sorry,it's joke. However, the two points I pointed out are true. If you incorporate "Daisan", the movement of pulling the bow will be stable. If you make the arrow a little longer, you can easily keep it pulled and aim easily, and the trajectory of the arrow will be stable.
@KKIconsАй бұрын
I am learning, so this is helpful to think about. It will help me to remember, to understand why daisan helps. I am self taught but I hope to go to a kyudo workshop when they have one in my area.

I am Japanese, but it is very interesting to read the individual comments, which show that Westerners and Easterners have very different ideas about bows. The Orient has a tradition of observing the archer's personality perfection through archery. Japanese archery fires quickly during hunting and war, and operates slowly during rituals and spiritual training.The archers in this video have been practicing Japanese archery for at least three years.

Then why were they used over any other bow e.g: short recurves
@ironlungthe3rd3 жыл бұрын
@@salfordshan3545 I can't speak for why this particular style of Japanese longbow was used over short bows, but the traditional English longbow for example was made mandatory in 1515 by Henry the 8th, because they had a longer range and armour peircing capability but it was a detriment to everyone, The king made it mandatory for even children the age of 11 upward to train daily with them, in the early 2000s archeologists found that they had a physical deformity to their leading shoulder because of how much pressure they would have to exert on the bow, I guess it just depended on the technology of the day, and the capability and availablity of the weapon.

@jonajo97573 жыл бұрын
@@ironlungthe3rd From what I know from studying Asiatic bows and their functionality compared to the typical European longbow is that they're able to accelerate an arrow faster than a longbow of the same draw length. That, and the thumb draw providing more power stroke. I'm not sure about this one, but Yumi can reach draw weights in the hundreds and beyond. There's one replica of some 10th century(?) Yumi which had a draw weight of 110lbs, and a record of an Edo Period bow that had a 196lbs draw weight, though from what I could recall is that this kind of bow used for competitions.
