ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Hi. I'm Aki, a minimalist who is a school teacher living in a small village in Japan.
Today, I would like to share with you my best Hanami, which is cherry blossom viewing, experience ever, at Takato Castle Park, Nagano.
Hanami is a Japanese custom in spring, where people gather under cherry blossom trees to enjoy food and drinks.
To be honest, I've seen cherry blossoms in various places in Japan, but it's no exaggeration to say that this location is the most beautiful place I’ve seen in my life.
So, let's enjoy Hanami together!
WHO AM I:

I live in Edinburgh, Scotland. But 20 min walking from my house, inside Lauriston park, we have the Garden of the Friendship between Kioto and Edinburgh. Its a typical Japanese gardens, a present from Kioto government. With lakes and islands, ponds, with a traditional Japanese wall and gate, hills, zen garden, and of course cherry trees, very pink in their bloom. In April there is the hanami event organized for Japanese associations, where they offered you a yukata and they also do bonsai exhibitions, origami classes, etc. You should go to make the tea ceremony. The garden is impressive, and also you can see the Scottish forest outdoors, the typical English Garden of the Roses, Lauriston castle, and the sea, the Nord sea, specifically the fjord Firth of Forth, with different islands like Cramond, and in the horizon, the mountains of Fife. Its so overwhelming beautiful.

Aki-san, thank you so much for sharing your delightful day out with your friend to visit this park and you had opportunity to "feel"Earth. Before discovering your channel; the other Japanese minimalist that I uphold and read his book is Fumio Sasaki. Always, love wabi-sabi in practice when in my Japan visits. Is it for simplicity for foreign viewers, you use the term Kimono and not Yukata..

our wild Welsh cerios / cherries are blooming all through the woods and always remind me of Houseman's poem that begins 'Lovliest of trees the cherry now is hung with blossom on the bough' I guess you can find it on line from that and know that it's not just a Japanese thing to love the tree although our wild trees are taller and less twisty than those you show. When the wind blows we have cherry blossom falling like snow carpeting the bright spring green grass. Japanese ornamental cherry blossom is also to be found in parks but as there are fewer fruit to feed the birds later I prefer the wild variety with their delicat blush of pink on white flowers against a blue sky

Beautiful video as always, watched it twice now 😊. Just as a note, in Europe you can’t leave a bag unsupervised anywhere, not only because of thieves, but bomb threats that have happened before. I can’t tell you how often I hear about suspicious bags on the news that where investigated, but turned out to be just that. Bags… so people often call the police on lonley bags.

First of all, I'm digging the facial hair. Looks good on you. Such beautiful scenery. You are so lucky to see those things and I enjoy that you truly appreciate them. As you said only a few others had Kommonos. Do the people around you find it strange are are they very accepting of the older ways? I think it's that you do it. Off of subject but, what Is your favorite type of rice? I was raised in Thailand and Mine is of course Jasmine rice.
