The pig wields a rake because Chinese men are supposed to rake and plow the fields while Chinese women are supposed to weave and sow with their threads. If you really love Black Myth: Wukong and the story of Bajie, please take your time to read this, it might be long, but it’s worth it! Zhu Bajie(our fav piggy friend) was originally a marshal general in heaven, and he saw Chang'e (The bunny lady) in a celestial party, fell in love with her at first site, so he started chasing her, and accidentally bumped into Zizhu'er (The Spider) which was one of Chang'e's handmaidens, and she fell love with Bajie at first site. However, Chang'e had a secret affair with the Jade Emperor, and Zhu Bajie, having seen something he shouldn't have, was banished from heaven and cursed. The curse was that he would endure 1,000 heartbreaks, and anyone he loved would be doomed to misfortune. At first, he tried to resist his fate and became engaged to the daughter of an elder in a village. But he transformed into a pig, and his fiancée was repulsed by his appearance. Heartbroken, he wandered aimlessly and eventually encountered a group of women bathing. But what a destiny indeed, among them there was a Spider Woman, she is actually the reincarnation of Zizhu'er, Chang'e's handmaiden! It turns out that she knew, and heard that Bajie was banished from heaven, so without thinking twice she decided to abandon everything in the celestial to follow him. However, Zizhu'er had turned into a spider because she had misheard and misunderstood that Bajie had transformed into one. In Chinese, "pig" is pronounced "zhu," while "spider" is "zhizhu." Sounds pretty alike. So Mistakenly, Zizhu'er thought that her beloved Bajie the Marshal of court had become a spider. Despite their differing appearances, they recognised each other and showed their true form. They were like a family and had a daughter together. But fearing the curse would strike again, Zhu Bajie left her once more, in order to protect his family he loved…adding more salt to injury, if you really pay attention to the details in the video, Zizhu’er has always kept the same makeup since the first time they’ve bumped into each other, hoping that if they ever meet again in the mortal world, he would recognise her right away!

While not having the same culture Backround as european, I have a deep apriciation for the story of Wukong and it´s influence, growing up at least partially with the story of journey to the west throu the old cartoons of 1964 and onward. I also can see the love and care the devs put into the game and I´m very happy this story got this great game. I just can´t wait to see what this studio will do next and I´m eagerly waiting for the DLC to this game.

@@Lethos1000 They will release the DLCs for sure, which were not able to release this time due to resource constaints. In 1986 TV show, the most exciting part is fighting with the celestrial court guys(EP3) and this might be planned in the second DLC (not the first one)

I love how the animation works like confusing at first, and everything clicks at the moment the flashback of incarnation happen, that “omg moment” when we realize one gave herself into demon where one fought to remain his humanity.

When they reunited for the first time, he rejected her and reminded her that he was just a pig. She smiled and told him that she had turned into a spider. Despite they have the biggest areas, chapter 3 and 4 might be my favorites. The amount of secret cool bosses are also astonishing. On a another note, nothing makes me happier than seeing peaceful and appreciative 🇯🇵🇨🇳🇰🇷 people being united. If not them, who else are gonna preserve, and continuing the beautiful oriental East Asia cultures and values ♡

@@jlvv_1 Maybe you are right, but I often see Korean bloggers live broadcasting, and Korean viewers comment that Sun Wukong originated in Korea, the author of Journey to the West is Korean, and the architectural style plagiarized Korea. I am confused by this and even really wanted to check whether this information is true or not. So I am very negative about Korean culture.

And we could choose whether we ourself want to be mean as well, or being the better person. (Athat's why I said only the ones with peaceful and appreciative mindset in my original comment) Bcs I've seen polite, respectful and kind korean ppl, japanese and chinese ppl as well. Also, tiny korea with their kpop and kdrama on worldwide stage right now, have been helping younger generation on the other side to recognize korea specifically and east asia in general

Zhu Bajie's story is very touching and it also made me tear up. He had to sacrifice his love ones in his journey to help protect the Master Tang Sanzang , Sun Wukong and the rest in their journey to India to collect the Buddhist sutras

This is the most unforgettable and greatest chapter for me. In the Journal Entries, we can see there's a good chance The Sixth Sister is his daughter. The steward guai tried to signal the pig guais to shut up, but they continued, "Little girl, let us tell you a secret that everyone knows but you." The steward guai quickly tried to intervene, but the Sixth Sister earnestly said, "Go ahead." The two pig guais laughed and said, "Your father is a pig, just like us. You are a relative of our old pig family." In 35:10 , Violet Spider wanted him to meet his daughter, but he didn't have the courage to recognize her. Even in the end 48:32, it's obvious that his daughter wants him to come over, but he chose to leave with the helpless sigh. I feel so sad for him but I totally understand his helplessness as a man.

If he confronts with the spiders as Violet spider’s lover, all of the spiders will be terminated including his daughter by the celestial court, reason for mixing yaoguai with deities would put shame on the court.

Not all retellings include the story of Bajie's thousand lives / thousand romantic tragedies, as it was not mentioned in the original Journey to the West novel--only that he was banished for harassing Chang'e.

Ohh sh*t this scene Zhu Bajie have to live with sadness and broken heart for being Too late. He must go on continue journey to the Bharat (west) after everything he regrets for the past, now becoming just a dreams he could only flashback... 😭😭😭 I'm not sure if this illustrated in 1986 journey to the west, but it is very similar with Journey to the west 1996. Ohh shoot why am I in tears now just like the same scene as I watched the same scene back in 1996 😭😭

The Moon Goddess having an illicit relationship with the Celestial Emperor, discovered by Bajie, who at that time was a general in the Celestial Army. He was cast down from the heavens by the Celestial Emperor for discovering this affair. Bajie fear the Celestial Court, thus afraid to recognized his wife and daughter, both are spider guais. If you read the lore, the 7th Spider Sister is a half spider, half pig guai, but her ability to transform fully human form suggest her power is above advanced guai despite her young age. Pig Guai can smell one of their own.

This ties into the Demon-Revealing Mirror. Both Bajie and Violet Spider look into it, and they see different things. Bajie sees the man he used to be, and mourns it. Violet Spider sees the monster she became, and rejects it.

They are forced to work in this laboratory. So the Crane Immortal said: The protagonist ruined God's business. (You seem to have not completed the side story mission: tear off those purple charms)

And the girl in the video is not the Moon Star Lord.
