There is a message conveyed in the lyrics of the true ending song (the song's name is Unfinished) and I find it meaningful both to wukong's journey and to stories like Journey to the West as a whole.

its there, just not in the video due to copyright. its a OST made for 1986 series of journey to the west, that later stick to almost all JTTW later adaptation (i assumed they paid royalty to put the song there in the 1996 series of JTTW and many other adaptation) and it is owned by the company that created it. So its best to put it out to avoid a strike. idk how some streamer had their song up though, zackrawrr (asmongold) has his video up and its with the full OST on blast. I also saw a few streamer did it, so its confusing to me as well. Maybe because of monetization?

fun fact i found out Japan was the first to filmed Journey to the west colour television in 1959 from some channel

😂TRUE. But still, journey to the west is difficult to understand for Japanese because of the difference of culture. The 1986 TV version is best.

@@Edward-You 1986 version toned everything down to make it watchable for kids. The novel has a ton of political commentary that isn't in the TV.

so from what ive heard the monkey that gave u the eye was actually sun wukong's mother figure and she was collecting the eye in hopes to revive her son, upon seeing the destined one (i think) she thought her son returned and gave him the eye. but yeah that monkey is a woman, and shes even wukong's mother figure and was actually one of wukong's general too (from what ive heard) her story and appearance is short but when i heard the explanation for it i just cant help but have immense respect for the love she had for wukong

Happy to see you finish Black Myth Wukong and Ghost of tushima (though i have not finish your playthough) What was your favorite part about the game? Mine was with the evironment and how much the game sets you in china like how ghost sets you in japan. 2nd: what ending story animation was your favorite? Mine personaly was the first as it blown my mind with the artsyle and storytelling. Though chatper 4 ending capture my heart, Chapter 1 was the most capivating.

both are good endings, where Wukong gets his succesor, incarnation or just got revived since the chosen one is a spark of himself which gets whole again. But the true ending where he refuses the headband is the one Wukong desires, because his death and everything else that had happened seems to be planned by Wukong to "rip off his headshackle to break free". His headband is the only thing which is in the way of his freedom

The first ending is a bad ending because the whole point of what Wukong did in staging his own death was to break free. If his successor was just going to put that crown on again it made what he did pointless.

@@TeleologicalConsistency Yes, it was the courts final defense against the monkey. Without the heavenly kings and erlang there was nothing stopping him from reaching true enlightenment and breaking out of the path forever. It was absolutely the bad ending because he failed to accomplish his only goal lmao.

@@TeleologicalConsistency yeah it is not a welcomed outcome for Wukong. Making it another failed attempt to free himself from all (natural)law and rules. But it would simply represent the natural cycle of things, a natural/godly order of things, which isn't really a bad thing too. Can't say that if u rebel against god like satan did is good. Wukong is good in his core but his "absolute freedom" had caused chaos in the human world and above. That's why he got his headband. Never forget that he is considered the strongest Yaoguai king. even though Yaoguai has a slightly different meaning in the chinese culture than a western demon, but he can be at least seen as a anime demon king. 😆

You can have your own interpretation of whatever message you think, but no need to speak on behalf of the developers. Don't make this too political. After all, a good game and a good story.

So people don't want to politicalize it and I think that's the correct instinct to have, but you gotta take it all with a grain of salt.. It's his interpretation based on basically no knowledge of the story of the journey to the west and also not being chinese. 😂 This game is really geared towards Chinese audiences so it's basically guaranteed that someone who is not chinese and doesn't know the original story won't really get it 😅 For sure it hasn't a deeper meaning but the game isn't a reflection on any modern politics most chinese people don't even consider the last 100 years as being that representative of their self identity. Modern politics aren't really something chinese people are concerned with as much as people think (cause there's thousands of years of history and politics to reflect on. The most important underlying themes that chinese people like to think about is how to conquer your "self" and how to conquer your fate. That's something most non chinese people won't get, Wukong has his fate but he will never take it lying down. I've read some chinese gamers comments and they have noticed that there's something funny with the Erlang Shen in the game, there's a possibility that there's a ploy to help rid Wukong of the circlet's control, the only way to do that is to completely "remake" himself.
