Minimum speed: also applicable on motorways in Quebec, Canada (at least those with a speed limit of 100 km/h). Any such sign will be as part of a double-panelled sign with “maximum 100 60 minimum” with the “60 minimum” on the lower panel.

Very nice and informative video. Might be good to add that when parking is time limited, it usually means there is a cost to pay. Either a meter at the spot or a ticket machine nearby. They will be at the base of a rectangular sign mentioning the conditions again. Also about street parking, speaking of Tokyo here, I think it’s safe to say that if there is not a white square on the ground, it’s not a parking place. Fairly easy to get a parking ticket which can cost 10-15,000 yen AND points on your (Japanese) license.

ありがとう、先生! May I make just one or two comments? -- In British (Australian, South African, etc.) English we say "No overtaking" rather than "No passing". The American expression can be a little confusing, because you can pass something without overtaking it! -- the signs shown at 2:20 and 4:10 in your video are the same -- I would say that the difference between the signs at 4:00 and 4:10 is that the first means "no entry (one-way traffic)" while the second means "no vehicles (in either direction)".

Thank you for this video. It is very helpful. Can you please explain the difference between 車両進入禁止 and 車両通行止め? They seem the same to me.
@JapaneseLanguageCulture
@JapaneseLanguageCulture Жыл бұрын
Yeah, good point! If translate into English, both are the same, “No vehicular access” 車両通行止: Traffic is prohibited from all directions on the road where the sign is placed. 車両進入禁止 : No entry from the direction where the sign is placed. However, vehicles may enter from the opposite side of the road from where the sign is placed.
