Do you have any source for this...? There are some theories on the origin of the word but none mention Japan. According to wiki, it comes from Handfunktelefon, that is, wireless handheld phone and that's how it was marketed when it first came out. Other sources say it's because of an advertisement for walkie-talkie that were called "handie talkie".

I usually never like videos idk why i think its just out of habit but honestly i just saw one of your vids pop up next to a "how to thrift like a pro" video and i have been watching literally every video on your channel and I have liked every video that I have seen just because you seem so humble and genuine i love it, it makes me want to like your video and I can definitely see you having a great future in youtube because pure and loving channels like yours really stick through.
