You got the point across, that's what matters :P I never knew it was because of the vinagered rice that food was classified as sushi. You should do a video on western sushi etiquette versus proper japanese etiquette! (Like how westerners usually just dunk the sushi in soy sauce vs. sprinkling with the ginger) Oh, i also love tuna! :3
So if I use vinegar with my rice and make onigiri with it, will it be called sushi?

I'm Japanese and I seems like you are the one of the really few foreigners that are preaching the topics about REAL JAPAN nicely.. I luv your videos!!! thank you for informing the people in the right way ..X-) because I see some who are not like u unfortunately ..
I'm a vegan so I never thought that I would be able to eat sushi until I went in to a couple restaurants and found that sushi chefs are happy to veganize vegetarian rolls. I love eating Inari Nigiri and Futomaki without the egg. They are so good! Yum yum!
i like sushi, looks yami, but 01:50 is it a raw tuna or is it prepared in some way- smoked, salted etc? isnt eating raw fish a bit dangerous? i heared theres a certain parasite which druing its life circle goes from ocean water to fish, then to sea mamals and back to the ocian, but if it ends up in human's stomack things get really complicated, the human dies within ours if not operated, its not happening very othen, but still hundreds if not thouthands cases around the world each year.
For those commenting regarding not eating sushi because of raw fish, there's plenty of vegetarian sushi, even when I was living in Japan, I found quite a lot of vegetarian alternatives to sushi involving seaweed. My personal favourites were egg and cucumber, I don't remember their Japanese names.
Although I should further add, that living in Japan as a full Vegetarian is functionally unreasonable. I had to start eating seafood, because it was just impossible to find enough food that didn't have any in it.

Slightly unrelated and I am sorry if you have answered this question, but what lends do you normally use for your vlogs? And do you do a lot of color correct or do just just capture in landscape and upload? P.S. nice video lol.
Ooooh, so it's all about the vinegared rice, NOT about raw fish. Well, that wasn't too complicated. I can't believe it took me _this_ long to hear a proper explanation/definition of what sushi actually is. Thanks Micaela ! This video is pre-destined to get a ton of views ... hopefully :-) _Marc_
my favorite is called a candied yam. its maki sushi it has sushi rice, nori, tempura yam, cucumber, and avocado with cold smoked salmon teriyaki and spicy mayo on top. its so good now i want to get some again!!!

Not relating to sushi at all but, I learned recently about the intensity of the japanese corporate lifestyle. Are all jobs in Japan that socially demanding ?
Onigiri fish is not supposed to be raw? i've been doing it wrong this whole time D:

Is there vegetarian sushi? Im going to Japan next week and I was really hoping to eat Japanese style sushi...
@nopenopefudgem10 жыл бұрын
yes yes yes. Having been a Buddhist nation for centuries there is still a very large part of the population that is vegetarian/pescatarian. From my experience most vegetarian rolls (I have never seen vegetarian nigiri) will include cucumber, picked vegetables, carrot, raddish etc. If you're vegetarian a very basic but crucial phrase for you will be "kore/sore wa niku desu ka?" or "is this/that meat?"

This video made me hungry! xD It's great that I knew what sushi is and what it isn't. Throughout the video I thought that I could know it wrong. :P Can you please make a video or vlog about common words or expressions said by young people and older people? My friend Yui said that "'mecha' kawaii" is said by young people in Japan, and it would be nice to know more from you, since you live there. :P And I love the ending! XD

ミカエラ I found the "Always with friends" series very good and of course all your life updates stuff :) Maybe do another haul vid? And I think the Blood Type video was very much like your old vids it was so informative and funny :D This one is good too but as you said it's already all over place.What I liked about your old stuff (and some of your new too) was/is the funny spontaneous Micaela explaining and showing us things we didn't know before in her own special way so incomparable to other J-vloggers.Maybe explain a bit more about the kawaii-ku thing?I believe a lot of people are still not sure what it really is :) We all look up to you!I think a little comment from you on your life and all the things that have happend since you came here and how it changed you as a person would be very interesting too :)
