You wouldn't do it the way Sekiro does it,but it's very much possible. You usually hit the blade to the ground and also out of line with you and then step on it. I do Italian Longsword training so Japanese swordsmanship might also do it.

Mist Raven and Sakura dance can reverse lightning without you taking chip damage against Tomoe Geni and spear saint Ishin. But if the boss reverses your lightning reversal, you might be screwed because both mist and dance have a slightly longer "hang time", i.e. Wolf stays airborne and won't touch the ground fast enough for a 2nd reversal.

Bruh did the "sword expert" just pull out a ninjato and use it as historical evidence...
@danielhounshell2526
@danielhounshell2526 4 жыл бұрын
disclaimer: there's actually no evidence that the ninjato ever existed historically. It was a later invention primarily from the entertainment industry. Even if you think about it logically the ninjato makes no sense, why would a ninja, who relies on infiltrating places without anyone suspecting him, wear a uniform or carry a sword that could uniquely identify them as a ninja, especially when swords were so heavily restricted during large portions of Japanese history, and having one would draw unwanted attention to them. Ninja didn't really operate by skulking about in shadows and doing parkour, they dressed like the people in the place they were infiltrating, gained entry without drawing attention to themselves, and did what they needed to do, which was mostly gathering information. They were the spies of their time, and operated as such. This isn't to say that the skulking and assassinations never happened, because they did, but that was a very small part of what ninja did, and when they needed to assassinate someone, dressing like a commoner and hiding a dagger was often a much more effective option.

@kranvagoun2240
@kranvagoun2240 Жыл бұрын
@@Corrupted Im not sure that's the case. As far as I've heard there are two possible explanations why we thought they even had a black uniform. First is because the illustrations of the Edo period in which it was common for people to wear masks. As it was to expensive to get a fancy mask, people usually bought simple black robes with black masks and media today use that as a reference for a ninja. Second is that they used black robes for a theatrical purpose. Moving props from the background "without being seen" so that they don't disturb the play. The idea like the green screen today if you will. Even without those two reasons I don't see why they would need a uniform because they were like hired commandos in a sense. I might be wrong though. If anyone has any information that is more accurate I'd like to know.

I wish they would stick to the technique side of things more, because I love hearing about how one cut or attack is actually realistic (or not). Not to mention they obviously aren't historians, so most of the history they talk about is basically at the level you would learn from pop culture. That said, I feel like I have to point out there is no historical instances of a "Ninjato" sword, sure there where straight swords and short swords like the wakizashi, but the whole idea of a Ninja/Shinobi only sword is 100% a modern myth. That's not to say Shinobi may not have had their own particular type of weapons they may have carried, but that our modern idea of a Ninjato was not one of them, and there are 0 surviving sword that would fit that description, as most that do are only a hundred years old or so, nothing correct to the period in which Ninja/Shinobi were active.

@@furkanaydin8046 Ok let's get something clear, when someone say "samurai and ninjas are completely different things" is ignorance, even in japan, Samurai for westerns would be knights, which is a Social status or "itle given to person, so a Samurai could be a ninja or Shinobi depending on the period (I mean they are almost the same but the difference is when in time they both existed). We have this believe that ninjas were trained assasins wering black gear and using the ninjatō but that's not the case, they are no record that we have found about that, even the world ninja isn't assassin like some people believe, but is covert agent/spy. and this is for the other comment of "There is one known samurai in japan" makes no sense, because like i mention before Samurai and been a skilled sword fighter are two different things.
@Musicaddict2232
@Musicaddict2232 4 жыл бұрын
Andrés Pérez you are correct. The title says Japanese sword experts now and I’d give them credit for that much but don’t mistake it. They are not trained warriors. They could probably school most normal people with a blade absolutely but a trained classical samurai would have the edge over them because they’ve tested their fighting style against all sorts of others back in the day and that sorted out what styles worked well and what styles looked good and fought well against their own style but couldn’t match up against other styles of martial combat that had been tested in real combat over time. Martial arts has many examples of this such as how Kung-Fu is actually not very good against other MMA martial arts like Japanese Judo and kick boxing which have both proven to be extremely effective when used against almost any style of fighting. Kenjutsu and Aijutsu are great for fighting Kenjutsu and Aijutsu fighters but when put up against someone unconventional like how Musashi fought with a giant wooden pole they’d break down as they have no ways of dealing with opposing someone with much greater reach and striking force. I myself won’t claim to be any expert but from what I’ve seen from research and watching masters of so called “martial arts” like Tai chi have their bells rung in mere seconds when faced with fighters using Judo and Kickboxing. It’s very telling. Edit: upon review I have re-looked into Kenjutsu and it holds up very well as far as a true discipline of fighting goes. It’s matches well against styles from all sorts of places including fencing which is tough to manage. Can’t say the same for Aijutsu as it seems to work only if the user gets the first strike or first move off. High risk high reward with Aijutsu. Also the fact that one is a kendo instructor lends some good credence to their credibility as experts. I must retract my earlier skepticism. They are likely as close to warriors as most people will get these days (excepting military personnel and real life combat veterans and fighters around the world)

I think people wanted the experts react to Sekiro because of the posture mechanic (deflections rather than direct blocking to break through an opponents guard). Additionally, Wolf received the sword from Kuro and is an Ashina Katana, however the Interior Ministry shinobi do wield "Ninjato", so it was a narrative choice.

Of course ninjato is a historical weapon!!! Dude what do you know!!?? Haven't you informed yourself? The shorter the weapon the better. They created an advantage against the samurai also by fitting it with a rectangular crossguard so when the samurai were in the state of "what the fuck does that guy have on his sword" they exploited that opening and hit them with throwing stars. And the samurai were always weaker that the shinobi no....fuck it.....NINJAS. They dressed in all black, and as we all know black blends in extremely well in feudal Japan. Ask yourself! Have you ever seen a ninja on a cherry tree?? NO? It's because they hid so well man!!!!

I thought it was obvious that deflecting is unlike blocking. When you deflect, you redirect a vast portion of the force you would receive instead of blocking which channels the force through your body. Though they’re not wrong about the part where you hit a baseball 50 times in a row, instead of hitting it the opposite side it came from, picture hitting the ball with minimal force so that it only deviates maybe 45 degrees from its original trajectory. I doubt you would feel as much strain as you would normally. But what would I know, I’m neither a physics nor sword expert..

Sorry but the word samurai actually refers to a way of life rather than a soldier caste. Although the soldier or protector that served a master in feudal Japan were called samurai. @tempsikandersuckskilla4112
@tempsikandersuckskilla4112 4 жыл бұрын
@@sirsukena6914 It was a way of life of a soldier. And of course they focused on a certain code just like any other medieval soldier because they had their own ruler. If they didn't follow that code then they wouldn't only lose their honor as a soldier but lose the rulers respect as well. Which makes them a rogue and an outcast. Soldiers like knights and Samurai weren't only brutes but we're also pretty noble to their rulers. A lot of rulers like Kings and Shogan's had their own military status as well and invested a lot in their military. Rulers weren't only very nobile but were also war lords. So it wasn't a way of life but a way to not be seen as a fucking goof or bad soldier by their crown boi. Basically, a ruler can smell a bullshit soldier.
