🤭 when I was talking about the 1/4 drive universal joint, I stated the '2K' is a date code. Well, turns out it's part of the part number: DNBJ2K

That Orbis pliers wrench, have a look at several rebrands: Gray tools, Hoffmann, Stahlhärter, among others.

the plier wrench is a rebrand of Orbis, a division of Knipex, they gladly subcontract to other brands
@chriscas-ToolAficionado3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are like NWS in that regard. Have you seen the Orbis PressWrench in any other rebrand?

The Combination pliers in this review are also made by Orbis-Will.

The length of the 15 ° offset wrenches is impressively longer than the Nepros version. Always a good justification for more tools. Thanks for sharing the info.

I've been trying to find a Japanese version of the Knipex pliers wrench, but have yet to. I DID find a Japanese version of the Cobra's - the Engineer PZ-81! For the most part I want everything Japanese in my everyday use tool collection
@chriscas-ToolAficionado2 жыл бұрын
AFAIK, the only Japanese brand to offer smooth-faced, parallel-jaw action pliers like the PliersWrench is Fujiya. They aren't made in Japan though.

@@chriscas-ToolAficionado yeah I seen those but not being made in Japan is a bummer and the black tar finish is ugly imo

How does it compare to the Knipex ones, assume you have them as well?
@kennethstephens80463 жыл бұрын
@@chriscas-ToolAficionado I don’t but most of my coworkers do. They’re about the same really. The knipex is easier to lock into position though. The gedore is a bit finicky but I’m used to it now. I like the handles on the gedore better than the knipex though

That long flat double box end wrench looks exactly like the Genius tools ones i have.
@chriscas-ToolAficionado3 жыл бұрын
I assume you're comparing it with the 16x18 ProAuto one that I showed. That and the Genius ones could possibly be sourced from the same Taiwanese OEM...but may be not, as I'm sure there's a few in Taiwan making them and laser etching/stamping them with different brand names.
@ronprice74953 жыл бұрын
@@chriscas-ToolAficionado i would bet money they are from the same factory. The way the edges are square and even the way the stampings look on the wrench. Ive been a tool nerd, history researcher and mechanic for along time. Most people think im kinda nuts when they see me looking at a wrench the way i do. Haha. So its cool to see others are out there.

Fujiya makes a plier wrench too btw, you should check it out
@chriscas-ToolAficionado3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure whether they have the same level of multiplication factor on the dynamic jaws like the Knipex/Orbis, Gedore, Wiha, etc have. I see those Fujiyas as being in the same category as the NWS PowerMax and VBW PowerGRIP pliers, both of which are made in Germany. The Fujiya plier wrench isn't made by them, as with many other tools under their name.

is there a way to order from Factory gear, or get deen tools here in the USA? I see several items I want to get Thanks for sharing your cool stuff with us

There used to be some offered on Amazon.com, so you could check there to see if there's something matching with your want-list. There is a warehouse somewhere in the USA with some inventory, but those stocks might be pretty low now. You can also check out: deentools.com/en/

Have you been to the new factory gear shop? They have a cool bar, have to check it out next time I'm there. Also it's weird that a tool company partner with an anime that's has zero to do with tools or cars. I would have chosen initial D or super7 (car anime) branding.
@chriscas-ToolAficionado3 жыл бұрын
I'd love to go there/Japan when the time is right! I assume it was ATFIELD that approached the various tool companies. Yeah, Initial D themed tools wouldn't be as strange a collaboration eh. 👍

I wanted to get a pair of the Deen hybrid combination pliers (DNJP-160HPG) and got lazy. Instead of making a blackship account and ordering them from factory gear I went on eBay. Don’t do that. The pair I got had misaligned jaws and terrible fit and finish. The jaws won’t even close and make contact with each other. I have a hard time believing Orbis and/or Factory Gear (Deen) would allow something this low quality to be sold. I don’t know if these are QC defects or factory seconds but I would strongly caution anyone from ordering these on eBay (there appears to be only one eBay seller with these right now so I would avoid). Just wait till you have enough of a need to make a blackship account (or similar) and do a larger order directly from Factory Gear in Japan. Hope this saves someone a bit of disappointment. I just rewatched this video to make sure I’m not crazy and I can see the fit and finish is much better in the pair featured here.
