A much more efficient way is to make the front of your card a full sentence full of only words you know except the one you are learning. It means you get a 'rep' on all those other words and a mini top up every time you see it on top of being exposed to the new word.

Pro tip: you can watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.

does this card make the reverse side as well? I might have broken it by tinkering with the fields so they work with my addons, but it seems like it doesn't

Hi there, Both the sides should be created with this method. Hopefully, you will be able to fix the things you changed!

Are you still going to make a video about using a tutor effectively to supplement the post in your blog?

+Gabriel Wyner Hey there! Thanks for the great work you're doing. For the life of me I can't find a good way to lookup counters for Kanji. Joshi and other dictionaries will tell me if a kanji *is* a counter and what it's for... but not the correct counter to use in while looking up any given random noun. Say I want the counter for 猫 (cat). Do have to just know that it uses the animal counter and then cross my fingers and hope it's not some weird exception?

Hey Gabe, I have a question about the audio in Anki, for the pronoucation trainers and in your japanese deck in this video I noticed that the voices are not found on forvo - where did you manage to get the clear sentences and words from? Forvo is amazing but sometimes unreliable and I can't seem to find the sources on your website. Thanks in advance!

Hi Gabriel! Thanks for the book and pronunciation trainer. Just wondering: how do we apply this model if there is more than one new radical in the word in question? Is there a way to create a bare radical card?

Number of strokes, e.g. your 32 for 音樂家, is ridiculous. It breaks down into chunks, each chunk has some meaning which is easy to remember, ver-ree often because it's relevant, and always because you can assign meaning to it arbitrarily for your mnemonic strategy.

Hi Gabriel, I am currently learning how to trill or roll rs (more specifically in Thai), with much difficulty. When I was wondering about the position of the tongue, air and so on, I thought of your pronunciation videos. I did find a part of a video on rolled rs, but it was for Spanish rules. Do you think you could do a pronunciation video for the trilled or rolled r? Many people are in the same situation and I am sure it would help many people.

+Gabriel Wyner I found it. Your "Prince of Prussia" technique is very effective and should help me improve my trilled r even more. Thank you. I watched a number of videos about the trilled r, and some of the authors said it took them 3 months or so to learn. It took me a week, which was quite a relief-I was walking around the house sounding like an insane person (although with no one in proximity). Now I just need to undo the ingrained reflex of pronouncing "r" as "r", and instead pronounce it as a trilled r, which is not an easy thing to do. : )
