Japanese Type 30 Bayonet - Disassembly, deep cleaning and reassembly

I have recently acquired this Type 30 bayonet from a local pawnshop. I noticed it was in need of some help so I took it home with me and found it to be a challenge to bring back to life. There was a lot of pitting on the blade, a lot of rust everywhere and the button was cemented in place. So lets see what can be done to it!
The Japanese Type 30 bayonet was developed in the late 19th century to be equipped on the Type 30 Arisaka rifle. Japan manufactured and deployed this model of bayonet until the last day of WW2. They were used on countless Japanese weapons and are not limited to the Type 30, 35, 38 and 99. Any conflict Japan was involved in, these bayonets were used extensively.
The audio originates from December 8th 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor and the Japanese thrust southward into European colonies. This gives historical context on where these bayonets were used.

The purpose of this video is to help preserve the history of this bayonet and to spread awareness of its upkeep. It is intended to extend the life of this piece of history for many generations to come.

can you modify a long bayonet in to a functional modern bushcraft knife?

Absolutely, for instance, I have seen many type 30 bayonets turned into just that. I would never do it but in the case you want to, it is certainly doable.
