So glad I found your channel. Your videos are extremely helpful! Very professional and informative. I just started learning Japanese on Duolingo. Still learning Hiragana and Katakana, and only know some simple words and phrases so far, but learning things like sentence structure at the same time will really help. It helps to tell the difference between ru and u verbs to look at the kanji…verbs like かえる and はいる that are conjugated as u verbs look like this with kanji: 帰る and 入る。 Whereas true ru verbs do not include the え or い sound as part of the kanji: たべる is written 食べる and おきる is written 起きる。

I was wondering the same thing. It's explained in the description. aru is another irregular verb and does not behave like a "ru" verb.
