It's basic work, jesus christ Yakuza's dub was a freaking disaster. And you don't hear much about game dubs from JAPANESE to English, because a lot of those types of games like say Silent Hill 1 and 2, are dubbed in English FIRST and then Japanese if even.

Both are good: it just felt more 'natural' to me to play it with English subs. Also, this is probably because I don't speak Japanese, but I felt like I was more focused on the emotion they put into what they were saying while I read along (and hot damn, did the VAs bring that fire). Also, props to the team for re-working the animations for the different languages.

I'm early Chapter 5 playing through with English (also my first time I've played through a Yakuza game in English), and I'm really not disappointed. Kaiji Tang as Ichiban's a great performance, and I love how the party members can bounce off each other. The scene where Saeko joins the party is imo done really well, her voice actress really pulls through.

I can see both sides of the argument here. As the Japanese original fits and flows way better, I do think the English VA do a fairly decent job and I shall play and support these actors whom have tried their best at portraying these characters. Neither English nor Japanese is my mother tongue, but it's a game set in Japan so Japanese suits them more, though understanding English is a bit easier.
