The reason for the breakup was never publicly disclosed. Earth was a part of the smash ultimate development team and has a legal agreement with Nintendo that stops him from competing. You can find him in the credits if you look hard enough.

There's a reason for that. Iirc, the red circle appears when you hit the wall and your knockback is high enough. However, when you hit a wall, your knockback is reduced by, like, 10% or something like that. So, there's like a small window where you can get the red circle and still be able to tech.
