I didn't even realise it was a fox, I thought it was a cat, lol. Fox makes a lot more sense in the setting of a shinto shrine as kitsune yokai (fox demigods) are a standard feature of Inari shrines, Inari being the kami/god of prosperity, agriculture, etc.

Then two dancers dressed as eiffel towers wearing scottish kilts jump into the soup and start dancing the "Can't Touch This" dance while singing "Naturträne" by Nina Hagen.
