I’d say he still has a long way to go, but look at how far he’s come already. I didn’t personally enjoy every song, but the ones I did I ABSOLUTELY LOVED. He’s just coming into his own, and as far as first albums go, this makes me feel pretty proud.

I only listen to this with my best headphones - the soundscape work is incredible and unironically gives me chills. I can feel how much Jakey cares about carrying the listener's attention from point A to point B without ever "settling" for less. His music's meant a lot to me ever since I heard Not Dead Yet, and I appreciate that he stuck with it despite the struggles of production described in this album. I know how hard working on a solo project can be, and I hope maybe he's identified the part(s) of production that bogged him down so that he might get collaborative help with those parts moving forward. Dude clearly has incredible talent and must enjoy some parts of the production pipeline, it would be a shame for that to get limited by the parts that are annoying for him

I think the through-line of the "I wanna go ADPI" sample representing the lingering suicidal feelings expressed in Drive Off a Bridge is pretty dope. It lingers throughout the EP in an almost creepy way, and is a major part of how it ends in Fat Head. It's the motif of the EP, I'd say.

Bear with me, i promise this story is relevant to this album. I was in a really, really bad relationship this time last year. I struggled internally for over a month to try and find the balls to end it, and I did once but then she tried to kill herself so I got back with her. There have been very few times in my life that I've been so unhappy as I was in the time between when we got back together and when I separated from her permanently, but a few weeks after I got back together with her I just had this sudden calm come over me, so I went out to my truck (so as not to be overheard by my family, who I lived with over winter break) and called her to break up with her. After I hung up the phone, I walked back into the house and sat on the kitchen floor, and opened KZbin to find something to watch. The date was December 20th, and the very first thing on my homepage was the audio for Pine Barrens. I'm not a religious man, but when I put in my headphones and listened to it on the floor of that kitchen I had a spiritual experience. I knew then that I had done the right thing, and that everything was going to be ok, and in the end it was. So, Pine Barrens has an incredibly special place in my heart, as it always reminds me of that day when I discovered that I also have power and individuality. So, when I tell you that hearing that verse and the subsequent chorus harmony made me cry, I'm not kidding nor being dramatic. I never thought I'd have a spiritual journey twice with the same song, but somehow you've given me that, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that Jakey. Thank you and Dog Bless 🙏

Man, I'm not lookin for pity or anything, yall don't know me so it makes this a lot easier. My grandma has taken care of me most of my life, we found out a year or so ago she got liver cancer. Lo and behold I didn't really give it too much thought at the time, but that woman was a healthy size, seeing her shrink down to where her arms are as big as a regular bottle of water has been killing me, I avoided it and now it's here, she can't even move on her own, and my family expects me to help them work and help family friends work while also trying to watch over her and my grandfather. I'm not looking for pity, just here to vent and say how this music has helped me along, especially Reeboks or the Nikes, love you Jakey, keep rising bro. You deserve to make it man.

If Jakey's only song was Moby Dick, or Pine Barrens, or Not Dead Yet, or Saintlike, then he'd still be an incredible musical artist. Romcom is the perfect evolution of his style, blending that sincerity and vulnerability that has come to define his style with amazing samples, awesome beats, and great music overall. This album is perfect for shallow listening, as well as deep analysis, and Mr. Snakob Jacob must be proud of his accomplishment. 10/10

Buying the album on I-Tunes to support you further. A truly riveting and pumping mix of beats here. I'm so FUCKING proud of Jakey for creating this. The sampling style and obscurity of some of the samples, the unique harmonizing with himself, and the raw emotions felt in these songs absolutely make this such a beautiful piece of art. Incredible job, Jacob. Thank you so much for this and all the other amazing things you've created over the years. I've loved watching the progression of you as an artist and self-loving human, as much as one can from the angle of a viewer at least. I hope you continue pursuing these creative avenues so long as you enjoy doing so. We're so much better because of it

Let's go Jakey aka Jacob aka the guy that always has a clip of "Horse Sense" in his KZbin videos, we know how much passion, effort and hard work you put into this album. Through all the struggles AND A WHOLE ASS PANDEMIC you stayed passionate about what you wanted to create. We are beyond proud of you but at the end of the day I hope you are happy and proud of yourself. Keep making passionate works no matter what form those works take! Your passion draws crowds. @@VVienna22 i wasn't the one who liked your comment, and this is a little silly for a 4 word portion of an 8 word comment on a youtube video, but for some reason i found this kind of beautiful. "tell me your story". there's something so human about reaching out across bits and data and inviting the faceless, possibly nonexistent person at the end of the like to humanize themselves by sharing their context, and their story. like we used to gesture at the stars to come closer and reveal their secrets, and with time we've developed ever more advanced technology to control the universe, but we slowly, surreptitiously lost the ability to connect with each other. idk this is way too much for a youtube comment but jakey got me feeling reflective

Well he said that a lot of these songs were in production for long before his youtube channel, and he even has one song referencing saying the album has been in development since 2015, so man crazy he's spent 7 years trying to perfect the album. Shame we never got to see his other album "Dead Friends" that was announced at the end of cafeteria. Hopefully he announces that project soon.

Gonna be real with you Jakey, "Reeboks or the Nikes" legit made me cry. I've been dabbling with music for the last 4 years, making countless beats, demos, riffs and clips, spent hundreds of hours just tweaking some minor, insignificant shit that no one would probably ever even hear, practicing eqing, mixing and stuff, and yet I've never actually released or finished anything. I get so into my head, overthink every single fucking thing and doubt myself. I always make couple of versions of the same song with different presets, different drums, bpm, whatever and always feel like it's not good enough. Like it's not finished and that no one will like it, and yet I want my first song to be *good*, I want to feel proud of it. Sorry I got emotional and overshared, it's just that song really hit home. I never really share these things with anyone in my life because no one would really care about this, but hearing your struggles with the same problem makes me feel like I'm not alone in this. Thank you, this album is a masterpiece

I can't comment how many point I love. The 808's and basses are so smooth through the whole thing. The sample selection is premium, memes included but made into a right banger. The mixing, the depth and seperation of everything, and the placement around the field is incredible. The musical callbacks and overall layout of the album is great. This will be an inspiration for me to come bro, so happy you were happy enough with it all to share. Much love

Yea the bass hits alone are so clean, this shit sounds amazing in my car. Don't know much about music production but everything is super well mixed its kinda nuts. Loved the callbacks/layout and like "crossovers" in the songs like you said too, happens at least twice. Always love when an album is organic like that and not just separate unrelated tracks. I love Pop Punk and Jeff Rosenstock does that stuff, themes and lyrics and melodies drift between songs.
@logeymusic
@logeymusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@terryo4352 With regard to the basses... Right!?!!? That last part of Like Totally Freak Me Out hits in such a way. And just the pulsing bass of Fat Head absolutely sends me. And on the note of Fat Head, beautiful way to end the album, with the callback to the start is just such a strong and beautiful way to finish it off... if you don't have it on loop that is, because then it flows just as well as every other song lmao And I was a big fan of Pop Punk back in the day haha, more generic stuff stuff as I was more into metalcore, but I'd compare this to the flow of tracks to Igor or Flower Boy to be honest. But seriously, if you haven't yet listened to this through some headphones, treat yaself and do so lmaoo

Damn, 2 years later and it’s still just as great as ever. Shit, this has to be the most “me coded” album I’ve ever heard. Sure, it’s rough around the edges but it’s so personally feels like it was made me and *only* me. It’s the prefect combination of existential dread, memes (that only like 3 people in this world will understand), and nerd culture in a way that captures such intense feelings in the most artistic way possible. Seriously, this album was so good that I wrote about it for my first ever college paper. To think that it speaks to me so much both then and now that I decided to dedicated a paper to itself speaks to your artistry in how you manage to take all these things that are important to your life (no matter how insignificant they may seem to others) and just straight up fucking amplify it in the coolest way possible to relate to the people like me who admire people like you. From the bottom of my heart. thank you Jakey for going through all the struggle and strife to make this.
