JAR OF UNICORN WISDOM: Why is the Hybrid series important for LGBTQ+ youth?

Hey peeps, and welcome to another Project Unicorn video! Sorry for not posting last Friday and on Tuesday!!! I fell down my Hybrid-writing hole and didn't realise how much time had passed!!! Good news, though; wrote 2,500 words!

Your book sounds absolutely awesome. I'll be honest and say Vampire stories aren't especially my cup of tea but there are definitely exceptions, like the Buffy series, and your book series sounds like it would be more than worthy of a spot on that list. I have several friends who I feel would also really enjoy your books so as soon as they're out you can count on me to spread the word! :D I completely agree with your answer as to why these sorts of characters and stories are important for LGBTQ+ youth. I would have killed for a book series like this growing up. Instead... I was force fed the Bible and... while I have nothing against believers, that really really messed me up. 19 years to figure out the basic idea of who I am and then another 10 or so years to finally accept myself and just let go of all the religious dogma that caused me extreme amounts of mental grief and all of the self loathing that went with that. It is so important for LGBTQ+ youth to realize that things can and will get better. That there is a place in the world. There is hope for a future and you can definitely find love and anything else you're looking for in your life. And yeah, things are better in the media today. There is more visibility and more acceptance. But more representation and more LGBTQ+ friendly stories and characters never ever hurt. And in many ways we still have a very long way to go. Also, I totally agree with Claire and wouldn't mind future videos exploring the characters a bit more in depth. :)

+Poodlepaws44 Aw, thank you so much!!! I've had so much fun doing so much writing at the moment. I think this video also inspired me to get more writing done as well. I definitely think there can be more LGBTQ+ stories out there, just to normalise it, since it is normal but lots of people don't think it is. Wow, Bible huh...? You'd be a fount of knowledge for another story about angels that I wanna do in the future... lol. 😇 Shameless! I'll take ANY opportunity to get more characters! Lol! I'm glad you discovered yourself and managed to overcome the difficulties... Well done you!!! You stay amazing! You're absolutely fantastic! 😁😘🦄
