Introduction to my two Jardine`s parrots (Poicephalus gulielmi) and some first thoughts / infos about this species.
At time of this video they are both about 4 month old siblings. The male is named Konrad (in honor of Konrad Zuse) and the female is named Ada (in honor of Lady Ada Lovelace). They are hard to tell apart, but Ada has a very, very slight yellowish tint, while Konrad is a tiny bit darker. Ada has a few red markings at her tail, which is the easiest way to tell them apart.
Most of the time I am in the room they make begging sounds. I think, that is just because they are just weaned for a few weeks and still want to be the feeded baby. I never fed them by hand, they can feed perfectly on their own. Nevertheless, they are handfed by the breeder from their 5th week on, thats why they are so tame and begging to humans.
They are fully flighted and I would never clip them. Flying is their natural way of transportation, even in their cage.
If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments. Maybe I will make a follow up video then.
Special thanks to Kaylen from the channel Parrot Bliss ( / parrotbliss , who encouraged me to make this video. Her channel is full of information of currently 21 different species of parrots, a must to check out!
Have fun!
Dirk

In your videos your capes are mostly silent. Didn't do they begging noises, when they where babies?

@@Ralfram Three of them were young, but not babies. One that was young and that could have begged for food, never did. She decided she was old enough to feed herself when she came home!
