Possibly the show will gain a cult following, and Harris’ involvement in Chernobyl will help draw more interest to this series too.
@serenabramble2605 жыл бұрын
It truly is. Actors were all uniformly excellent, plus the production values, including the make-up and production design. Kinda surprised it couldn't crack the limited series gauntlet at the Emmys, but it didn't feel like it was a ratings smash the way Chernobyl became. Really hope it finds a cult following, I've been recommending it left and right.

The tidbit about Jared giving away some of his better lines to the ensemble of actors makes me love him more. I love hearing stories about actors/filmmakers being gracious instead of narcissistic.

Jarred Harris amazed me. I'd only seen him in a couple of episodes of MadMen, which I didn't really like, and just thought of him as "that British weasel". Kind of like how I'd dismissed Bryan Cranston as "that idiot" from "some idiot sitcom". Makes me wonder how many more great dramatic actors are out there, buried under generic meathead, girlfriend, and bimbo roles... Too bad there's so much shit writing and not enough good parts!

Also notable performances from Ciaran Hinds and Tobias Menzies, among others. I also liked those actors - sorry, I’d need to check IMDB for names, mea maxima culpa - who portrayed Goodsir, Sanky, fake Hickey and the Doctor. Also the poor chap who went down on the diving suit and obviously had PTSD.

Adam Naigitus (Hickey) & Paul Ready (Goodsir) are absolutely STELLAR finds!!! The guys who played Lt Little & Jopson were excellent as well. This was an immensely wonderful find, it easily earns it's place among Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Andy Griffith Show, TWD (before Gimple killed it), the first half of Boardwalk Empire, as my favorite shows. Excellent television, the scale and the enormity of this outstanding show is unquestionable. This could have been a film and it would have won several Oscars. There are performances that will take away Emmys such as Jared Harris Tobias Menzies, Ciaran Hinds , Adam Nagaitis, and Paul Ready, and the whole cast, every single actor in this series went all the way. This was a masterpiece done for television. The production, the directors, the costumes, the art direction, the sound, the special effects, everything about the Terror is 5 star.

I'm a 60 year old retired U.S. army veteran and watch each episode with pleasure. Jared Harris certainly hooked me and I do believe he is a great actor. 25 years ago at a antique store I bought the original 1853 Volume 1 & 2 of the Grinnell expedition with Elisha Kent Kane looking for the lost Franklin crews. Fascinating stuff! There are copies for sale on Amazon.

I couldn't tell these were actors, I really felt like I was witnessing what these brave voyagers went thru. Can't tell who I'm crushing more Tobias Menzies or Jared Harris. At certain points I automatically readied myself to see the same thing you always see. And then they didn't happen. It was terriffic. This is terrific entertainment, because it DOES pack a forceful "Good vs. Evil" clash - if you do that well, that's how people care enough about what happens next to binge watch (guilty). They're also aggressively clued in about 19th century Britain and the presence of detail tells you so, whether you're a history geek or not. Thank you for working this hard on a story.

Francis was a great protagonist, Sir John and Fitzjames were brilliant, Mr Goodsir, Lady Silence, Mr Blanky, all were such great characters, but Mr Hickey was the one who hooked me by the end. Ville Laitamavkkapajatsoon - It seems like it had zero press here in the UK, I don’t think it even aired here?? It’s insane because we eat up these period dramas with a spoon, and this one was so beautifully done, it should have been appointment television but it’s like nobody saw it. I only pray it gets aired again and gains a cult following because it’s better than so much else on TV.

Speaking of which, I find it a bit weird that Crozier "went native" in the end. I think it would have made more of an impact if all of the expedition had perished.
