So, I take it that you are just too lazy to scroll through the video to the part where he gets down to business but NOT too lazy to go COMPLAIN about him NOT GETTING TO THE POINT quick enough!?!?!? You see, simply put, that is what is wrong with the world today!!! It’s full of people just like yourself that will take the time to put out/release/express all this NEGATIVE ENERGY but NEVER takes the time to put out POSITIVE ENERGY!!! Yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions but haven’t you every heard the age-old adage of, “if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all”??? If not, then you may want to remember it right now and start living by it. Yes, you can put your comment down about “getting to the point” but you also could’ve said something like, “NICE VIDEO” or anything positive to go along with your mediocre critique of this man’s video. This man’s video, which by the way, I thought was FREAKING AWESOME to say the least… and that is a huge UNDERSTATEMENT!!! So, moving forward, let’s practice putting out some POSITIVE ENERGY into this negative world we currently reside in!?!?!? Oh, and one last thing… I HOPE I GOT TO THE POINT FAST ENOUGH FOR YOU!!! 😂😂😂

CURE YOUR MIND - Maybe, just maybe, he will make a video about how he edits his videos to make them so appealing to the viewer!?!?!? This was awesome video editing and the content was AWESOME as well. That picture was bad ass!!! Now, I do know that you must have great content, as well, but I would love to know how to edit a video the “right” way. Hell, it could even be titled, “how to edit your BORING AND MEDIOCRE video to make it SUPER DUPER SPECTACULAR, just like my videos”!!! 😂😂😂 But, in all seriousness, I would LOVE to see a video that he made about editing videos.

Love this!! With a canvas that large, you may need some bracing in the center and stretcher bars- so you can re-tighten the linen as it stretches out when painted. I'd love it if you could make a video of this!

An idea you may can play with, is build it exactly as you did, but add quarter round around the perimeter. You’ll have the beveled edge facing toward the inside of the canvas. That way, the only thing the canvas touches on the front is the thin edge of the quarter round. If you don’t do this, when you go to brush along the perimeter, some times you’ll get a line forming in your painting where the brush drags off the edge of the wood framing underneath. Doing it with the quarter round suspends it almost like a drum. Great video 👍
@TMPK3 жыл бұрын
Someone else suggested I should bevel it a little bit. Such a good idea. I’ll definitely be adjusting my method next time I build a canvas! Thanks!
@peterreece23402 жыл бұрын
I was watching for that. My first stretcher was square wood and the brush strokes on the painting showed it up. You must bevel or glue on a small strip all around the frame to suspend the canvas,
@DavidLaMorte Жыл бұрын
Omg I just said something similar. Even like a 15 degree slant would make this much more fun to paint on. Maybe it doesn’t matter if you’re using spray paint and not a brush.

I'm so glad I discovered this video as I always wanted to make my own canvases as most of the time I never get the sizes I want and have to settle for what they have at the stores. Moreover, I love the carefree approach Jared takes as he takes the fear out of making the canvas cause I've always been the "I hope I don't butcher this project" and afraid to make mistakes type. All I needed to hear was "it's just like wrapping a Christmas present." The artwork it self is also amazing. I love the bridges at dawn or at dusk, not to sure yet either way I love the feel of the painting. Thanks bud. Happy Saturday all.

Thanks! Some of the comments were mentioning that I should have tapered the wood a little bit so it only touches on the outside edge. So next time I’m going to do it a little different but the way I did it in this video works just fine.

Sorry to bother, But I'm going to be getting a pretty expensive painted canvas coming in, I know the dimensions, should I get a smaller or bigger canvas 😩 It's 23.4 x 33.1 I have no idea what I'm doing and to get wood on the back Michael's estimated 300 dollars!
@TMPK2 жыл бұрын
So you’re getting a painted canvas and you need to stretch it onto a frame? All the canvas I have stretched have been blank. I imagine it would be similar to thy but you’d have to be careful not to stretch one party more than another cause it might distort the painting or crack the paint? 🤷♂️ maybe ? Lol I really don’t know. I would wait till the painting arrives, then get measurements of where you want it to fold over the frame. Then build the frame that size. Then fold it around and stretch it gently and staple on the back. $300 might be worth it if it’s real important. Sometimes it’s best left to the professionals. Then again, the “professional” could be someone who knows nothing about it and mess it up worse than you would 😂 good luck!

I’ve always used pine or spruce and it’s always worked for me. Those are both soft woods. If you’re having trouble screwing the screws you should look into an impact drill. They do all the hard work for you! Also pre-drill! Pre-drilling makes it so much easier. Good luck!
