I had this on the PSP and it was a disappointment. Heroes 1 was a hidden gem. It had good aesthetic with lots of color. Each level was open ended and let you attack each objective in your own way. There was a single player version of the multiplayer called skirmish mode that let you choose your map, character, and weapon for a free for all against bots. All of this made a competent FPS on a mobile platform. Heroes 2 removed basically all of the good features. No skirmish, linear levels, and bland colors. Overall it was just a poor experience.

This. Ignoring this is ignoring the main selling point of this game. 32 player online that from what I remember was fast and fun with a great take on K/D count was great.
@gameboyadvancedsp67273 ай бұрын
Kinda the main selling point. Remember, online still wasn't mainstream and games still dependent on its offline offers to gather attention. If there's no internet, then what can it give? Even Heroes 1 still told you it had some offline offers to have a reason to buy it for offline players. *Heroes 1* offers a nice, explorative Campaign, fun uniform rewards and a Skirmish mode for offline multiplayer fun. Even if you never played online like me, Heroes is still fun! *Heroes 2* is just Heroes 1 but less, with a more linear and boring campaign (despite the more modern mechanics), no uniform rewards and no Skirmish *(and no Skirmish hurts a lot to me).* I will give you this: Heroes 2 online looks more comfortable thanks to its health regeneration. I remember how much was a hassle to deal with no health regen in Heroes 1 Skirmish. There's medkits but only a few... But why Heroes 2 only has 6 maps compared to Heroes 1 12*??? And I played the PSP version, which now seeing is the superior version (unless you like motion controls and mini-games). Although, I will give you this: Heroes 2 kinda looks like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ('11) before MW3 ('11) was a thing. That's hilarious!

The reason this game is often remembered so fondly is because of the multiplayer. It wasn't even that good, but it had server lists and made it VERY easy to play with friends, without the need for long friend codes. Eventually we got The Conduit, some of the call of duties and that Goldeneye remake, but at this point we didn't have any "real" multiplayer shooters and this promised to give us a taste of a multiplayer fps that didn't feel like crappy nintendo online multiplayer.

As someone who grew up on the Wii, the reason this was the best Wii FPS was the 32 person online multiplayer (no other game came close to that many players). Well balanced weapons and great maps. That's why people loved this game. This was my favorite game growing up as a kid, and I met a lot of people playing it that I still talk to to this day. @@Gruntvc This one is especially painful. I'll just copy what another site said regarding its developer. After being approached by Nintendo for a partnership for their work on The Conduit' and its sequel to help round out their library for the then-upcoming Wii U with a new first-shooter IP after Retro Studios had finished the Metroid Prime Trilogy and had shifted focus to Donkey Kong Country Returns, an anonymous member of High Voltage's staff leaked sensitive documents to the press (allegedly as revenge for poor working conditions at the studio), which caused Nintendo to back out of the deal after High Voltage couldn't determine who leaked it. Coupled with the very long (and very expensive) development that ''The Grinder'' ran into and never found its way out of, and Conduit 2 flopping and killing off its franchise in the process, the team was left with no other choice but to refocus their efforts on the porting side of the business."

Not just that, but there are so many more interesting, and really cool weapons that were deployed in that war, than the standard, generic, crap that so many companies put into these WWII games. They could have so much more depth. The Thompson and MP40's are NOT the only cool SMG's used in that war. There's an absolute arsenal that the game devs just haven't tapped into.

One of the more modern Ghost Recon games (XB360/PS3 days) has terrible instances of clown closets. One of the missions is that you’re supposed to hold off a point with incoming hostiles all around you. They give you a timer to hold out, but the mission or checkpoint doesn’t actually go through until you manually walk over to the mission marker. You can be sitting on the point for almost an hour, slaughtering infinitely spawning enemies before realizing that you have to walk over to the marker yourself to stop the clown closets. Realistic depiction of WWII weapons. Jarek: MP40 doesn’t sound right and fires too fast. Me: Is that a Thompson with 1928 sights, but an M1 handguard and barrel, but also uses a 20 round mag instead of 30?
@Kill3rGr1zzly3 жыл бұрын
It's a perfect recreation of the M1928A1s built by Savage between January and October of 1942. To cut down on the costs of production, they ceased producing the barrels with cooling fins, ditched the Cutts compensator, went to a cheaper grey parkerized finish instead of the bluing on prewar guns, and replaced the Lyman sights with simple "L" peep sights once the Lyman stock had been used up. The horizontal handguard was part of the acquisition request in 1941 that resulted in the initial specifications of the M1928A1, because the U.S. military required the guns be fitted with a Kerr sling. The 20 round magazine was standard issue - the 30 round magazine didn't come out until it was delivered alongside the M1 Thompson in October of 1942, at which point production of the M1928A1 ceased entirely. There were thousands of 20 round Thompson magazines circulated throughout the logistics system of the U.S. military, so they were used as much as the 30 round magazines.

People liked this game because it was the first online multiplayer FPS for Wii. A lot of wii owners only had a wii (it was much cheaper at the time) and did not have access to multiplayer FPS games (CoD 3 and MoH Vanguard had no online play for wii, and CoD 4 wasn’t ported to Wii until 2009).

This was my first shooter that I remember playing. I was scared without playing with IA so I never went past the 1st mission. And if I did I was got stuck on the submarine. Ahh good times

It’s A good thing he stopped playing before the end. When you get to the last level of that game, you have to do a quick time event where you solve trigonometry problems, as Adolph Hitler himself is hooking car batteries to your nipples, and every so often you have to look up from those trigonometry problems to fire a gun at German soldiers as they fire on Winston Churchill, and you have to help him to safety. All while on a time limit. Few men have survived that section. And even fewer have escaped that section with their psyche in tact. You, my friend, made a wise decision to quit half way through the game, Jerek

Had a blast playing this on the PSP when younger but it has alot of issues, especially weird difficulty spikes in the campaign, mis-aligned iron sights and weird oversized cover hitboxes ( especially on the first levels) , bad checkpoints like you said and AI that sometimes just keep spawning ( happens way less on the PSP version somehow? ) Also its weird but it seems that the Wii version has alot of weird differences like that, like the muzzle flash isn't as annoying on the PSP, and you can sprint in the campaign. I mostly played the multiplayer which had alot of hackers and out of bounds glitches, i even learned some from players, it was fun but really...bad.

I've only played the PSP ports of the two Heroes games and I really enjoyed them on that platform. Never touched the wii versions though for exactly the reasons Jarek stated.

another thing I love especially whit medel of honor is the D-day its 10 dude on a beach. we see 3 landing craft approach the beach at the start each holding about 8 people. one gets blown up before we reach the beach and then half the team on yours dies before they make it off. so where the other boat well if your fast and look to the left as soon as your giving control again where the only surviving boat landed you see that it will open the ramp and all 8 soldier will jog out and stand in front the the craft for 1 sec before dying on there own. (yes they was only coded to leave the craft and wait to die for some reason). from then at 3 points in the map 2 soldier will randomly spawn run along a path and die at specific point (whit no consideration to where the MG nests are shooting) as soon as they die and disapers two new ones will spawn at the one of the 3 spawn point and repeat. COD was a bit better from what I recall at least the Russians would spawn in larger group so it looked like there was more going on. whit 2 groups that ran circles on the D-day Stalingrad mission in such a way that it looked like there was new groups coming all the way running of to the side or something. but yee this is just sad even today D-day its 20 guys on a beach.

LOOOOL oh boy I almost wish the multiplayer was still live just to hear your thoughts. That MP40? Oh don't worry, it wasn't faster than the Thompson in multiplayer. Actually, they were both faster in general. That muzzle flash might as well have been a flat png plastered on the screen with how fast both those guns were. The BAR and STG44? You could probably outpace the in-game fire rate with your trigger finger if the game would let you. The Snipers? There were certain areas where you could shoot through 1cm wide gaps and drop people with a rather generous headshot hitbox. The only good thing about the multiplayer was 32 man servers and everyone was always leaning while they played. Oh and you could get a Luger too, if you're into that.

One thing that tics me off with world war II games it was mostly the BRITISH army who fought Germany alongside most of the British empire including but not limited to Australia, South Africa and France with America not even batting an eye for half of it joining as the third party on the side of the allies

Weird timing that you uploaded this video, because the day before you uploaded it, I decided to play the game for the first time in years on the PSP. It was just as bad as I remember. However, I will admit, the reload animations looked really good for a PSP game.

"I should probably play the first one, right? I mean, it's a sequel" I have a friend who asked me why the game was called "Persona 4" and I told him, "because it's the 4th game in the Persona series". He didn't know that there were other games (Persona 5 wasn't out yet).

I remember owning and playing this game back in 08-09 when I was in like 8th grade. Much like what you said, I remember this game being annoying and frustrating beyond hell to the point where I think I literally did put the controller down and trade the game back in to GameStop before even beating it. I had to look back at reviews of the game and I’m shocked that websites were actually giving MOH:H2 pretty good scores which was what encouraged me to get the game back then. But the moment I started playing it I just couldn’t stand the controls half the time and a lot of them did come off as very gimmicky and game breaking, and I think other gaming mechanics like what you refer to as clown closets also ruined the game for me as well. I feel like clown closets are commonplace in the MOH games, but in other more memorable MOH games you at least have a better control scheme at your disposal so the clown closets are easier to manage there. This game may have been one of the games that cemented my utter dislike for FPS games on the Wii even though I really wanted to give FPS games on Wii a chance cuz I thought the motion controls would be innovative, but no motion controls on a lot of Wii games especially the FPS ones are a mess save for the Metroid Prime games which happen to be the only games where the motion controls actually work. I owned MOH:H1 on PSP, so in hindsight I wonder if I would’ve enjoyed MOH:H2 more on PSP as I thoroughly enjoyed the first game on the PSP.

I hate motion controls but conduit 1/2 did them very well.

@@Jarekthegamingdragon I actually wanted to bring up Conduit in my comment, but I didn’t want to turn my comment into a TL;DR lol. I played Conduit 1 on the Wii as well, but I also remember not really enjoying the controls that much either. I heard Conduit 2 gives you the option to use the Classic controller kinda like what RE4 on the Wii does. Speaking of RE4 they did motion controls well for that game, only thing annoying I remembered is sometimes I’d accidentally swing the knife if I flicked the remote. But I think with Conduit and other FPS games on Wii, I just don’t enjoy the motion controls. But otherwise Conduit was a good game, not for nothing if they made a Conduit remake for both games on Switch I would so play them.
@Jarekthegamingdragon2 жыл бұрын
Conduit 1 controls were pretty standard. Motion controls largely work mostly fine with fps titles if they don't add stupid gimmicks. That said conduit 2 was a HUGE improvement over the original game. Over all I wish these games got ported to PC because they're great games even without motion controls. That's really the important part. Motion controls do not carry a game, you need a solid game to go with it.
