Just listen to this... this is maybe the finest moment in the C-64 games music history! Even though it's been over 20 years since I really played the game (emulators don't count), this is an incredible piece of history of C-64 composing! Imagine, that Martin Galway actually programmed the music with assembly code instead of using i.e. Midi!

Stunning. How Galway got this sound out of a SID chip with just 3 channels is a miracle. Unbelievable and still amazing 30 odd years later.

Martin Galway did the impossible with this tune - using a three channel SID chip, he made it better than Jean Michel Jarre's original. Genius.

Better that Jarre's original ? Lol, this is nowhere NEAR Jarre's original. Take off your C64 rose-tinted glasses, the C64 Galway track is good for the limited 3-channel SID, but to say it's better is just fanboy talk.
@LiorIPSC Жыл бұрын
@@DKTronics70Let us agreed to disagree then. The Jarre version is much more subdued and anticlimactic than the SID one, particularly after the preceding tracks on Les Chants Magnetiques, which are far more bombastic.

I never had this game, so I didn't hear the music until I got an Amiga demo disk called something like 'The 100 Best Remembered C64 Tunes'. Same with the Arkanoid music, also on the disk. I think the length of the track is just fine, doing justice both to Galway's skill and JMJ's fantastic original composition.

Thanks so much for uploading this Netto! The first time I heard this this tune was from a primitive C64 text/gfx editor where your every keypress is recorded and played back. This is the music my brother and I chose to accompany our scrawlings all those decades ago. It's loaded with nostalgia for us and I hope to record and upload those comedic scribblings for your enjoyment. I'm sure my brother still has the '64 and the disk as not 5 years ago he pulled it out to look. Thanks!

I'm so glad I found this, it's been in my head for years, too. But is it just me, or is this slower than the version I heard way back when? I taped the music off of my friend's computer and listened to it as a kid sometimes, but lost the tape, but I'd be willing to bet money that the version I had was faster (and not just because of the tape pitch problem, either).
