Apparently there's a widespread issue of this model suddenly get bricked upon boot on Asus forum (see Tech Notice's video about this laptop for details). The issue also seems to affect Zenbook and Vivobook lines as well, and there's currently no definite fix.

Edit : Don't be a fanboy of intel or amd, I am just sharing my experience and I bought intel for single core performance but am I not allowed to mention cons ? And battery life is compared with amd counterparts and not with lightweight laptops that's just simple common sense. I bought my nitro 2022 model with intel 12th 12500h, and yes battery life is worse and heat is more. Intel is just packing more and more cores to compete with amd without increasing efficiency. And the result is more heat and worse battery life.

Why not just wait for AMD if you want better battery performance.

Macs and amd cpus are very slow in productive and content creation. Just wait for Meteorlake, 1st gen Intel core ULTRA CPU which will provide better battery than Amd and apple. Then lunar lake in late 2024 will be even more efficient and powerful than meteorlake.

I def noticed the one slide only compared vs other ASUS laptops and felt pretty darn sure that was part of ASUS' "promo nono" list, lol, though allowing for a few select competitor models that it favoured positively against in the next lol Paid sponsor's not a good place to get an unbiased view about a product. Homie gottah make a coin or two too, though ^_^

This video omits any comments on the very noticeable screen wobbling. It wobbles slightly when typing which can potentially be annoying and it wobbles considerably when using the stylus, which could seriously limit its usability. I think it's a big oversight in a review of a product like this to not remark on it at all, even if you weren't bothered by it you should mention that. Edit: Just realized it is sponsored. I know this puts you in a difficult situation to comment on shortcomings, but not doing so damages your trustworthiness.

seems like a normal days work... Asus occasionally screw their customer, look at how they downgraded the ROG Ally via a "mistake" update. Honestly though, all brand nowadays keep rolling out fishy updates; Asus, Lenovo, HP at some point they completely make a stable bios to a brick in an autoupdate

I have been waiting this video since this laptop launch on the market. I bought it at day one and still using it everyday. Undervolt GPU on Afterburner 2520MHz at 900mV to gain performance and do not hit power limit. If you want you can flash 4070 mobile vBIOS from CLEVO (google is you friend) and raise power limit to 140W. Tested, works well but no improvements in performance. OLED screen is amazing (turn on HDR and play with gamma and contrast in nvidia control panel for best result) Still waiting for undervolt unlocked bios.
@JarrodsTech
@JarrodsTech Жыл бұрын
Good to hear it's going well! Does the actual GPU tgp increase after your mod? I suspect it might not which is why no performance change if NVIDIA voltage limit gets hit
@Null6139
@Null6139 Жыл бұрын
@@JarrodsTech After flashing 140w TGP vBIOS I can reach 140w in some situation just before hitting power limiter but I have not tried more because applying undervolt is the right way to gain performance and reduce thermals for this GPU. I can confirm that there is not difference between 130W and 140W in games because power limiter (linked to voltage limiter) hit before maximum wattage permitted by bios.

Let me get this straight. You are obsessing over a tiny tilting wheel inside a laptop's dock/base? Dude, this is a solution for a non-existent problem. Asus should make a laptop mixture with this and Zephyrus M16. This laptop's design is really good especially the ports. If they mix this two perfectly they may create the perfect laptop ever. I mean if we don't need voltage hungry bulky laptops. The solution is between them. 😂

@@RyneLandersI mean it's my idea but I don't need 3D screen so the laptop u mentioned not something I'm looking for but good screen always something everyone wants. So I like studiobook pro's OLED screen. As specs RTX 4070-90 with HX processor would be good if Studiobook Pro body improves for better thermals like third fan in M16. Ports at the back is really a good design idea for me. Zephyrus series hinge design is unique but I'd choose some ports at back for clean desk. That's why I'm also looking for Lenovo Legion laptops. I want to have the best possible portable device for game, entertain, creation and work needs of mine. It's an utopia of its own but we almost get there. Btw closest thing what I want right now are Zephyrus Duo 16 and Legion 9i these days.

the problem with these "creator" laptop is it's too expensive. I mean, yes, theoretically, that hardware is great- but most creator job doesn't require all of them. And they should get rid of that pen support screen gimmick, cause it's useless for any creator (we use wacom, xp pen, huion,... no one will draw anything on a wobble laptop screen like that). Any mid-range gaming laptop with a good screen, nearly half the price is a better choice, in almost any circumstance. Asus should consider upgrading this design for a zephyrus s18 next year; tidy up the back ports a little, gather all big sized ports to there leave only USB-c on sides, change the color to silver and add a diagonal brushed pattern to the back. Increase the display size and add a 4080-90 version. If they can also upgrade the charging system with GaN they could decrease the weight further. I'd buy this in a heartbeat

And wtf with that trackpad? It's position is not ideal even if you're not into gaming. Yeah I know that I'm asking for perfection but please, let me have it for 3000+ bucks price tag. If Lenovo offers a legion 9 with the base design of 2022 legion 7 with better trackpad placement or Asus offers a zephyrus s18 with the design of 2021 s17 with white option they will have my money; I also expect other features like GaN charger but these are top 1 priorities for me. Is the 13980hx better than the 7940hs in Adobe? I didn't see the 7940hs shown in the cpu comparison, and I'm trying to see if spending around 800$ more for a 13980hx laptop is worth it or if I should just get the cheaper 7940hs laptop instead with the same specs

Is this laptop better for gaming or zephyrus g16 oled? I think 140w TDP of this laptop compared to 110w makes a huge change.

Hey jarrod.. I'm having an issue with my laptop screen colours when nvidia gpu only mode is selected... It drastically changes the colour temperatures.. And looks really bad.. But if igpu drives the display it looks normal. Its the Asus tuf f15 2023 i7 and 4060

With how expensive this thing probably is they couldn't even give us 8k pressure sensitivity? Cheaper drawing tablets have it lmao.

I am very torn on ASUS Laptops. I was recently about to buy one, but saw ALARMINGLY MANY experiences from longtime users, who had their laptop die shortly after the warranty expired, with the ASUS support only reacting after lots of hassle and then apparently charging basically full price of the laptop for repairs. I am normally keen on making my own experiences, but reviews like those kept popping up. And for the (not comparatively, but still) rather high prices, I just don't feel good about shooting my shot here.

Selection and confirmation bias - what you said is true for any brand of Windows laptops and in no way unique to ASUS. Also, the percentage of people who go out of their way to share product issues on the internet are an extreme vocal minority.

@@lars2894 I really, REALLY wish to believe that. But I have never seen this many reports of the same thing by as many people, with any other Laptop manufacturer (and yes, I have looked for such reports with other manufacturers as well). And ironically, right as the notification for your comment passed my phone, another independent tech channel that's usually really positive on ASUS just shared a video with an Asus laptop issue. Admittedly, a different one that's severe but likely to be fixed. If I find a good deal, I might still take a chance and form my own opinion, but until then, I'd rather stay cautious

For everyone complaining low battery life: download throttlestop and set a specific profile that disable turbo boost when on battery. Performance are still amazing, thermals and battery life will become better.
