This build is HOTTT!!!🔥🔥🔥 I’m single.... so for all of these awesome builds, I’m going to be open to having a bed half the size in the rear so that I can have a bathroom in that space and a larger water tank for sure! Not sure when I will build... but it is definitely coming! All of these videos are GREAT for ideas. And I will be totally electric/solar... no gas at all!🙃

Another interesting video. QUESTION: is there some plan or list or video out there with a general rule of thumb guide for the order one should be doing things in in building their van? ( IE first due flooring, then do you insulation, then do electrical etc.). Maybe I'm using the wrong search words, but I just haven't come across something like that I hope to do mine "right" the first time so I don't have to go back and do anything over again, mainly because I'm not overly flush with cash.
@harryupmann5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm self building too with no experience, currently laying the floor. Here our my random thoughts. General Phase Goals: 1. Climate control while preventing rust and mold. 2. build living space and storage 3. advanced systems (things that move and control electrical, gas, water, wifi) After prepping the van, ie rust, and sealing it to make sure its water tight, drill and cut holes and wiring then paneling: ceiling, floor, walls and end caps. some people do holes and wiring after insulation and holes after paneling. There is no order to the paneling sequence. After that then internal fixtures and systems, water, gas and electrical. Due to the small space parts of the van are built or worked on to a point and then something else, like I did wiring, insulation and continued wiring. There is so much variation it's hard to have a step by step checklist, just make sure it adheres to sound principles and it logical, do lots of research like to where you can't stand researching anymore and everyone around you who isn't involved in the build has an opinion on AGM or Lion or Polysio vs. EPS. My biggest mistake was not checking out if my van was waterproof, the side panels leak into the van and I had to tear out the bottom 1/3 of the lower insulation to remove rust. Just remember, your plans will change and evolve. go slow, be logical, do research, work hard. Good Luck

Couple things... bear spray is NOT as effective as a good .45 round to the brain stem on a bear attack. I live in bear country. Don't listen to urban dwellers who don't understand firearms or the animal. Those fox shocks are like $400 each at least, and that build is fantastic. I love that van. Thanks for the video, bud.

Really nice van! Though it seems like "... having your priorities when you're in the middle of nowhere..." would necessarily include a toilet of some sort.
@scnomad36265 жыл бұрын
Don Yates I don’t know why so many people are hung up on the toilet. A 5 gallon bucket with a $15 lid does the trick in an emergency
@azb20104 жыл бұрын
When you're out in the middle of nowhere is when you have no need for a toilet. The world is your bathroom. It's when you're around other people or travelling down a busy freeway where a toilet comes in handy.

Honestly I prefer self build vans, living in a van it is important having a warm ambience like at home. Decor etc. 😉
@KiruHana5 жыл бұрын
I've seen several comments like this in van videos recently. What does "with character" mean? Every van has character. I think what you really mean is that it is not your style/not your aesthetic preference. Implying that something doesn't have character is a little rude.
@rangovanlife5 жыл бұрын
@@KiruHana I am all but not rude, it was just a thought dedicated to professional builders, that campervans are often synthetically furnished, cold. It was not a personal criticism of the person who purchased it.
@JarrodTocci5 жыл бұрын
@@rangovanlife I hear you. I didn't think you were trying to be rude. Sometimes things can be taken out of context but the pro companies definitely focus on functionality over style and making sure it's all DOT approved. For adventure vans it's definitely a good way to go. The more "home" look is probably easier to do in a self build plus pro van builders are more engineers then interior designers 😂
@rangovanlife5 жыл бұрын
Your right, maybe because my mother tongue is latin, I used not the right words. Anyway what I would say is, that if I have to live fulltime in a van, for myself feelig comfortable, I need a decoration similar to home 🤩

I seen a similar build on you tube and the total was 70k, and not outfitted with off road. Why do I know the price because they had to sell it right after the build. I guess they couldn't make the payment on the van, lol and that was what they had it listed for. Yeah so I am thinking more than that. So yes I wonder how this was funded.

Sorry, and it's probably just me, but those bare feet with painted orange nails took away most of my concentration of this video. Lol. That sounds like a very costly(expensive) build that most people could not afford. A four-wheel sprinter is pretty pricey.
