The greatest staccato in the business. Heifetz also shows the incredible inner pulse he showed in all his unique playing. Always pushing forward but never sounding rushed. He was one of a kind.

Should have asked him how he does that staccato while he was still my student... Proud of you Jascha!

It's a good thing to post such rare footage. Even the anamorphic post-production artifacts fit well.

Heifetz’s bow control was astonishing. Amazing how many notes he plays with a relatively small section of the bow.

Attention: Jamie Haenisch Hello Jamie! I tried to post a Reply just below to your 5 months ago question re How this JH rare 1949 Bell Telephone Hour video was obtained? Likewise, I didn't know of this yet a colleague of mine in the Czech Republic, {pupil of David Oistrakh} had it & I posted this scintillating performance of my mentor, Jascha Heifetz, in Dinicu's 'Hora Staccato' on my FB Timeline yesterday. January 9, 2021! Her Link was difficult to see and hear, starting & stopping every 15 seconds, so a FB friend 'rescued' me w/this Link, also not that good. But without question, hearing Mr. Heifetz toss off this staccato Masterpiece, both down and Up (V) Bow is Fabulous!!! He, along with my other Leopold Auer JH class-mate, Sascha Lasserson, teacher, learnt staccato bow technique from Professor Auer, passing it on to me - {So helpful in the 'Allegro ma non tanto' 3rd Movement of Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto!!} I remember you for locating my Jascha Heifetz Violin Master Class - Khachaturian, JH-7, Elisabeth Matesky film a few years ago, exclaiming, "I found it!'" on an online Discussion for which I was deeply grateful & overjoyed!! The official Link was improperly removed & still under review as to Why? Now Sunday, January 10, 2021, far too many vicissitudes have challenged all of us in the United States and, indeed, throughout The World, so Music is an enormous respite amid these darkened times. In 1949, The Bell Telephone Hour weekly Week end Television Show featured the World's Greatest Performing Artist's, sponsored by "Ma Bell"!!! It is wonderful to have such a catalogue of Greatest of Great's no longer with us ~ Drop by my FB Timeline to say Hello, Jamie!!?? ~ Elisabeth Anne Matesky EM FB Timeline Link ~ facebook.com/elisabeth.anne.775?fref=nf
