Just a quick clip on how to blow on an owl call. It doesn't have to be perfect to get a turkey to gobble on the roost.

Those owl call you make with your mouth actually sound pretty good. If I heard that in the woods I probably wouldn’t know it was a human.

Hah, thanks. I know some guys who sound amazing with their mouth. I haven't practiced enough I guess. Thanks for watching!

I don't have an owl call. But I have found that my son's old recorder from school works somewhat decent. His separates about 4-5 inches from the mouth piece. The short mouth piece section can make something similar to an owl noise. I hold my palm flat to the bottom of it where it is wide open. This is all pretty fun to learn. 😊 I'd love to call in an owl. 🦉 🦉

I’ve been able to use a quail call to call collard dove, desert quail and a few kinds of owls. Easy as long as you think of it more like an instrument rather than a call

I might as well be blowing into a banana based on the sounds that mine was making. I’ll work on it. Thanks Jase!!!

Haha.... could always just scream, that'll work too!

Good stuff. The owl laugh is the one that produces for me more often than not.
Your voice more natural and effective than the call you advertised
@JaseOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Voice certainly works. I just can't get very loud and where I hunt there's a lot of traffic noise. Ha

Nicely done. I have the same one. It T\takes practice. And it will work . Thanks for the lesson!!

Heck you don't even need that call you were just as good with your voice
@JaseOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Hah! In my head I sound better with just my voice cause I'm not so good with the call, but the biggest problem is getting volume. Lots of traffic noise around here so it needs to be loud and I can't get loud using my voice

That’s actually a really good call. I’ve got some nicer calls but I always go to that one.

Yea it's really not bad, especially for the price!

Do u restrict the holes at all when using the palm of your hand to seal up the chamber? To get enough back pressure i mean ;)
@JaseOutdoors7 ай бұрын
Yea, sorta of. It's more like making a chamber for the air to give it more volume.... I'd that makes sense

I still struggle with using my diaphragm.. tend to find myself using it more like a crow call.. having trouble 😩
@JaseOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Keep at it! As long as you're making sounds it'll come. Takes time. Bring the air from your stomach and push the air out instead of blowing. Hard to explain really, just keep at it

I might be a little bit high, but would him doing the calls with his hands not make a good asmr? 🤣

Great video! Will this owl call work on Turkey’s located in the Central Valley of California? I believe we don’t have Barred Owl’s here.
@JaseOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Well, I've never tried it there, but turkeys will shock gobble or answer pretty much anything, especially while they're waking up. You can blow a car horn and they'll answer so I'd have to think that they'd still answer this call. Let me know if you try it and if they respond to it. Good luck!

It'll still work to call in owls but the main purpose for this video was to explain how to blow on the call to get a turkey to shock gobble.

Are you hunting owls too?
@JaseOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Nope. Just use owl calls to locate turkeys on the roost. They often times gobble when an owl hoots

Doesn't need to as long as that tom gobbles. I had some go off to my duck call early one morning lol
@JaseOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Certainly doesn't. Just giving the concept of using a call but you can use a horn to make a turkey gobble. Trolls just like to troll
