Jasmine Guy Breaks Into Tears “Lisa Bonet’s Life Is Not What Your Being Told!”
Lisa gained fame on the beloved sitcom 'The Cosby Show' before charming audiences with her carefree spirit and beauty on 'A Different World.' However, these days, acting isn't her main focus. Instead, she's found fulfillment as a proud mother of three and a writer, relishing a quieter life away from the Hollywood hustle. But it seems this transition wasn't entirely her choice. It appears that Bonet may have been steered toward this path by forces within the entertainment industry.

Lisa Bonet NEVER struck me as a victim. She struck me as a woman who lived life on her own terms as an artist to whom celebrity never mattered. In the public eye or not, she lived an art filled life. Y’all want to weep for her missed opportunity fame, but I think of her as an artist in every way.

Agreed, every interview I ever saw with her back then she seemed to clearly make her own choices. And, maybe even made certain choices out of spite when being told she couldn't do something so ....this appears to be spin for clicks...

maybe but cosby was trying to present a different image of black college girls or women. unwed teenage or college mothers. lisa didn't want to go along with that image but didn't have any problem bathing in chicken blood and having real sex with a guy or costar .. smh .. this world is just sickening with its morals.

how do you know he was a creep. because of the media and all those groupies he had.. he wasn't a saint for sure but neither was thoses women who wanted something from him . lisa grew up without a father so she definetly does't like following orders per se. i don't mean she had to be a robot but she didn't probably respect male authority figures. when she married the second time it was to her junior. she was over 17 to 20 years older. well that didn't work out in the end. why do i bring this up?? because i am sure she was the authority figure in that marriage. the mother so to speak and the dynamics for happiness in that situation became unhinged. that is not to say that she isn't a good person or that her ex was a bad person.

@@hasake8873 I have to agree with you on the overall image he wanted for the show. The cast themselves say people come up to them and say they were encouraged to go to a black college because of the show. It also showed black people going to get a higher education. That was visionary. There were enough shows about blacks in the ghetto and gangs. We needed this. Now I'm not saying that putting Lisa down was a good thing but I do understand the vision.

How can/was she "difficult" to work with? She was the BEST character on the show and by far the best 'child' actor/actress. And, to find out she accomplished this all while being mistreated or bullied by her mentors. Pregna t and in college was not a "good look" per Cosby. (Wow) Why? More so when the character was also married. Pregnant women shouldn't enroll? Or, be married in college? What a horrible message. Life is about opportunities. And, they come at different times for different people. Be that true love or time/money to enroll in college. What a horrific message to females ... only wealthy single women should think about attending/enrolling in college. AKA ... at ~ 18 years to 22-24+ years. Anyone else ... don't consider? NO ...

I'm reflecting on growing up and hearing about this in real time. I didn't understand Cosby's stance then, but I think his real life daughters were wayward (as in on drugs, runaways). Maybe not all 4, but two of them had issues. It wasn't widely known because we didn't have social media abd by the time we read the Inquirer or Essence/Ebony magazines, it didn't resonate. 🤷🏾‍♀️. I believe Bill Cosby wanted his tv family to be the polar opposite of his real family. He wasn't even raised in a two parent household, so the hypocrisy is present. Meaning, he wanted to present us a black people in a positive light and succeeded. He seemed to be obsessed with the fantasy and was too controlling.

I remember this well and it unfortunately happens in every industry. I worked in the UK for a specialist corporate bank, and they allowed bullying and ended peoples careers. This was all due to a bully who knew someone who was high up in the bank. Three people of colour from one department within 2 years were effectively 'gotten rid of', and these people were not allowed to speak up due to being labelled unofficially as 'difficilt'. The betrayal from a company/industry that does not appreciate DEI only pretending to treat their staff equally and fairly. With people/industries like this, sooner or later karma vomes knocking without any notice as did to Cosby.

I can say that Lisa Bonet was an actual person that I looked up to growing up as a black woman. I was a black girl growing up in a white neighborhood where I was much different than all of my family, my mom used to say I walked to the beat of a different drummer whatever it was Lisa Bonet was my queen. At the time her and Lenny Kravitz weren't together yet but Lenny Kravitz was my king and when they got together it couldn't have been a better force in my life to have such good positive people to look up to. So as Lisa bonet's life has gone along I haven't really followed it because there hasn't been a lot to talk about but everything that I've noticed about her life has been positive good and I learned her parenting patterns and include them in my life so my kids could also grow up seeing the world in a different way. I currently love my life and I still do think that Lisa Bonet is tops, Lenny Kravitz is up there too. Jason Momoa I really liked as well even before he got together with Lisa Bonet but since that whole thing with Johnny Depp and his crappy co-star I think that he didn't stand up for Lisa Bonet enough or she was trying to manipulate him into a relationship. Anyway I don't even like to say her name, Lisa Bonet deserves all the things just because she stays humble but she also stays on her grind which includes her parenting grind. Unproblematic queen!

Was it just me but you could feel the tension from all the cast towards Lisa Bonet? The only one that seem to like her was Malcolm Jamar Warner (Theo). But everyone else seem to have resentment towards her. You could see the tension between Bill and Lisa, and also with Phylicia Rashad and Lisa. They even wrote lines that too shots at her like she was dense. Like for example: Claire says Little girl how dense can you be? Then when she tried not to go back to school so tell her that she’s afraid to try. And how she forgot to answer the letter for her and her husband Martin’s on base apartment. They made her seem almost dumb. They really dumb down her character, anyone noticed that but me.
